They have Fixed the Product. It is now much more robust (it was prone to fail open)
Why did you pick this product vs others?:I have purchased four of these locks. Originally, I was not happy with this product (it was prone to fail) but now I am.The first two locks I purchased both failed in the same way, several other customers have given low feedback, One Star, because they had similar failures (unfortunately I did not originally see that). The first two locks Door Latch was a bad design and because of its weakness the latch would go in but not come back out and the latch would not lock. This was because if someone over torqued the handle, an internal sliding bar in the latch would bend down (it was too thin) and because the handle could be turned 90o an internal piece (looked like cow horns) and could push that bar down and bend it. Once bent the latches slide was pinched and would no longer spring back out, it was now toast (the bar was weakened and even if bent back it would just bend again). To compound this, the spindle size which is 5/16" (this is good since it is stronger), but this size square hole is not readily available (do not buy the MaxGeek replacement latch, it says it is 5/16" but it's NOT and the spindle will not fit). I tried to contact MuTex (mutexlocks.com) to purchase a replacement but they did not respond to messages on their site and now their site will not accept any support request at all. Now, the good news. They have redesigned the locks Door Latch. The two newer locks I purchased have a new Door latch that only allows the handle to turn 45o (hopefully people will now not over-torque the handle) and the internal bar is now much thicker and now stronger (so it will not as easily bend). I just installed the second one and I hopefully I should no longer have to worry about the latch failing and not locking our gate. This lock is not super heavy duty, but stronger than a normal lock. I can recommend this product, but the company should fix their web site and respond to support requests from customers. Amazon could you contact them and ask them to correct this?

Lasted exactly 30 days ABSOLUTE TRASH
I thought it was a pretty well built unit at first. Very heavy but tolerances are pretty loose all around. Today I noticed that the lock was stuck upen and this was as far out as it would go.Instructions were pretty worthless. Drilling of the holes did not match what the instructions called for so I had to wing it.I reinstalled the lock as is since we have a manual lock and apparently the lock popped out and now it won't open. Also, we have a manual lock because this lock can be reopened while someone is inside the restroom, there is no way to lock this from the inside.Spend the extra for the simplexUPDATE: today the other lock i purchased (at the same time) went out. now it opens without the code and the lock also gets stuck.spend the extra money on a quality lock.

Good stand-alone lock & lever for the price, though I don’t recommend using it with a deadbolt.
The media could not be loaded. We have a Kaba Simplex type lock in our warehouse that is super heavy duty and literally indestructible. I was searching for a similar lock with a large type keypad for my back garage door, when I found this lock. I didn’t want to have to install any strange apps or have to mess with batteries to get this lock up and running.I also liked how heavy duty is it and it reminds me of the locks on professional building bathroom doors. The only downside is it is a standalone unit that isn’t meant to be used with a deadbolt. I do not recommend pairing this lock with a deadbolt since the lock is so huge and is quite enough. The installation took about an hour and I only had to drill a single hole into my garage back door. Because of my door I oriented the lock to a right handle. The process to swap the lever was easy and I put the whole thing together within half an hour.It also came with 3 keys which allowed me to put one on my key ring, my wife's and hide one away for visitors who needed access without having to share the code. I’m pretty impressed with this lock and will purchase another one to install on my shed as well. I wish they sold these in two packs so I can purchase a set for our public bathrooms too.

Do not use for public restrooms!
Edited - this is absolute crap, fell apart and left me needing to call out a locksmith within six weeks of install, on top of hot having an inside lock as mentioned below, don't buy this.------------------------------------I purchased this for the restroom in my business, which is publicly accessible. The item description specifies that it is good for commercial restrooms. It's heavy, solid, the lock works well, easy enough to install, but one major issue - no inside lock.So yes, you can lock anyone without the code out from the restroom, but anyone with the code can walk in on you at any time as you can't lock it from the inside.Good for other applications, maybe, but not for the listed application I purchased it for.

HEAVY DUTY, EASY TO INSTALL
I ORDERED ONE ON THESE TO CHECK IT OUT. IT WAS TALLWER THAN I ANTICIPATED. I ENDED UP MOVING THE DEADBOLT DOWN TO THE HANDLE POSITION AND MOVED THE HANDLE TO THE EXISTING DEADBOLT POSITION. SUPER EASY TO INSTALL. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN EVEN EASIER WITH A SECOND SET OF HANDS BUT IT IS DOABLE ALONE. I HAVE SINCE PURCHASED 3 MORE AND OUT FITTED ALL THE BOAT CONDO DOORS. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Worked OK on apartment building. Handle fell off after less than one year's use.
Is a great idea when you don't want to have to worry about batteries, but this is not sturdy. It needed to be tightened constantly and handle fell off after about 10 months use and tenant was locked out. Perhaps I installed it in a less than ideal location for its use. So, warning to others - do not use on medium use apartment building door (only 1 of 4 units used it).
