Good looking, capable smart watch on a budget
This is a great smart watch on a budget. The OLED display is very crisp and clear and readable under most light conditions. I have worn the original Bip watch for a few years and I really like this upgrade to the Bip line. This model is almost a quantum leap in capabilities for almost the same cost. I really like that it is easier to visualize the historical data on board the watch without needing to download to an external app. I purchased this and my previous Bip watch for my own use. I have not had the opportunity to test the limit how how water resistant the watch is, but it is fine for casual wear without worry. There are quite a few downloadable watch faces from which to choose.I set my watch for continuous heart rate monitoring which does cut down on the run time, but I still get four or five days on a charge if I need. The O2 monitoring is only activated manually; there is not an option for automatic periodic measurements, the other measurements can be set for automatic. The accompanying Zepp app replaces the older Amazfit app, is better organized and supports more Amazfit watch models than the old app. Zepp is still what I would consider a work in progress, but it is fairly good at what it does. If you’re a hard core fitness junkie, some other smart watch brands probably do better at visualizing your data. I pretty much want to make sure I am keeping my activity level at what I want, so I am satisfied with Zepp. I like the composite “physical activity index” or PAI score generated by the watch as a quick check that I’m staying active enough throughout the day to presumably keep my cardiac health where it should be.

Good Buy as an Entry-Level Product
This is my first purchase of any type of smartwatch, specifically a fitness tracker. I am not one to go off with the latest trends and fads in electronics (I've had my LG Stylo 6 for four years, now, and am very happy with it). I also read the user reviews AND publicly-posted reviews on any purchase over $100.Based on these reviews and the price point, I decided to purchase the Amazfit Bip U unit. It says 'Designed by Huami" and is 'Model A 2017'. NOTE: This is not a 'Bip U Pro'. The 'Pro" is a different iteration. You can review that on your own. Also, I'm not a 'buy the latest gizmo and maybe use it whenever guy'. I moved into a really nice new apt. complex in Philly with this amazingly-equipped gym (NOT a workout room...a GYM). At 66 y/o, I have decided to get into better shape, so I'm doing target heart rate cardio 6x/wk (40-60 minutes) and dumbbell resistance 3x/wk (30 minutes HIIT). After three months, I decided that this wasn't just a fad for me, and wanted to track my cardio more closely, thus the purchase of the Amazfit Bip U.Based on the reviews of the many different products on the market and the WILDLY-varying price points, I must say that my Bip U is a pretty good buy.Things I think you should know:It won't monitor your Blood Pressure, Blood Glucose, or diagnose A-Fib or V-Tach. Those features come with much higher price tags.Make sure that you install the HUAMI AMAZFIT BIP U APP on your phone, there are a few other non-canon 'Amazfits' out there which will cause your head to explode. It's NOT Waterproof. Don't believe the ads. (I know a guy at a test lab). You shouldn't swim or shower with it on. This is not a big deal for me, but seems to be a deal-breaker for a lot of people. Be advised that a shower/swim/sauna compatible instrument will be at a MUCH higher price point, well over $125... possibly even $126.I have fairly sensitive skin and sometimes get a rash from my other leather/metal watch bands. I have had NO DERMATOLOGICAL ISSUES with the "cheap silicone band' (another reviewer's words, not mine) that comes with this watch. That's the whole point of silicone anyway, right? Completely neutral non-interactive substance. The User's Manual is a joke. Install the correct APP and spend a few days playing around with the settings under various real-world circumstances, especially sleeping, and you'll get a good feel for what this gizmo can do for you. Bottom line: If ya don't like it, send it back! Always save the box anything from Amazon comes in.

Good and Bad
I've had this watch for 18 months and overall I've been pleased with it's performance. Looks-wise it's comfortable, a good size for my smaller wrists, and people are always asking me if it's an apple watch. After 18 months the battery life is deteriorating. I used to be able to wear this all week, charge on Sundays and wear again all week. Now after charging on Sunday and not wearing it, I put it on Monday morning and it's down to 86%. I charge it about every 3-4 days now. It's never been spot on with my friend's apple watch when it comes to distance tracking. Sometimes it's off by a mile, sometimes a 10th of a mile, so it's not super consistent, but still most of the time within range of correct so that's not that big of a deal unless you're an avid runner. I do have to open the app for it to sync location before I can walk/jog, which is annoying, but still nothing too bad.So overall a good little watch, but I'll probably have to get a newer one by this time next year. Disappointing, but I'll want an upgrade by then anyway. Good watch for the price and easy to find band options to change for styles/color schemes.
