A Silent Voice Complete Collector's Edition 1

Beautifully drawn & plotted manga about communication (& so much more)!
“A Silent Voice, Complete Collector’s Edition 1” by Yoshitoki Oima is the first half of manga (roughly 3.5 volumes) that was later animated into the beautiful film by Kyoto Animation. Included as extras are the original “pilot” short story, a cover art gallery, & several interviews with the creator. As a collector’s edition, it’s beautiful & hardback & filled with extras that truly deepen one’s understanding of the material. A story about a deaf girl that was horribly bullied by her later elementary school peers, only for her worst bully to end up bullied as well. As the story begins, he has spent years dealing with regret for what he’s done & seeks to undo as much of the hurt he caused as he can. While this plot may put some people off, I think others will find a story about how complicated communication between people is & how especially miscommunication hurts everyone. Also, people can & do change.I’ll be honest, I watched the anime first. It was recommended to me by a good friend… & it still somehow took me over a year to watch it, but it is one of the best anime films I’ve ever seen (many times now). After buying the BluRay & having watched it several times… I had to read the manga to see how good the source material was.The manga delivers. While one can view it as being about the layered problem of bullying &/or a perspective from the deaf / hard of hearing, the manga is truly about communication & how we often fail to communicate with one another. & honestly it’s a stellar meditation on how much we can get wrong by not listening to one another, not putting ourselves in one another’s perspective, & not listening even to ourselves. & conversely, we can learn so much about ourselves & others when we try to truly listen. The art is also gorgeous & the story is wonderfully thought out. This is definitely not for someone with a narrow view though. This is for people who are open to seeing that we all hurt one another & fail, yet we have to keep trying to communicate. This is one of my favorite things I’ve ever read & I can’t wait to read the 2nd edition (covering the remaining 3.5 volumes of the manga). It also deepens my love for the film, which truly condensed the series into a watchable movie that still had the right amount of plot & character interaction. It also had so many Easter Eggs & small things that I might never have noticed if I hadn’t read the manga.Still a tad shocked it was serialized in a shonen manga magazine (shonen is manga targeted toward a younger “male” audience & usually is more plot / action driven), as it reminds me more of a shojo manga (young “female” targeted manga usually centered more on relationships). That probably just shows my bias & lack of understanding though. Please, if you have an open heart, read this wonderful manga. 💜

It’s amazing quality! Worth the price.
I loved, loved, loved the quality. It’s absolutely beautiful. The book comes heavy and DAMAGE free. The pages are so glossy and light to the touch but not tacky thin. The story itself is incredible. I was introduced to A Silent Voice via the movie and I’m so glad I gave this a try. This dives deeper in Shoyo’s personality, including his mom and friends. I’m looking forward to purchasing the second installment of this. If you are debating, don’t! This is your sign. It’s worth to add in your collection.

Collector's Edition
I had to support this after watching the film a couple of years ago and becoming one of my favorite Anime movies. Quality of the pages is great and also have some extra content that was not included before.

Great movie manga shows little more what didn’t expect
As fan of movie I enjoyed it.,For manga I was caught of guard can’t believe this is shown in this type of manga showing dead girl taking bath with her younger sister together I’m glad they didn’t show that in anime if I was pick up manga first before anime I be cautiously watching anime what could may be in put in anime and left out I as surprised by that.Everything else before and after that I like it’s exactly y what anime shows good series about real life situations if it didn’t happen to you as kid it happen to someone else kid growing up with bullies it’s good tragic friendship love story about bully who finally grows up what to make amends for his terrible antics to this girl who finally grow close to each other and learn trust earth other and other class mates she was with at young age it’s dark serious tragic story with happy ending not made little kids if you plan buy this series for manga fan watch movie first to know what your expecting from this manga before you buy anime is kinda light hearted that doesn’t show everything manga does have.
