Personal time capsule
I had one of these years ago when I was in high school and I still occasionally look back at my answers. I decided to get a new one and it's exactly what I expected and wanted. It's a fun little personal time capsule!

A great journal, and very convenient! (Once you loosen the binding like I tell to.)
I keep a journal - a large, free-form, sprawling journal - but I've always liked the idea of having a journal in which I wrote one or two sentences for every day and did so consistently for a period of time. THIS is exactly what I'd been thinking of. Normally, I don't like small journals. I want something big so I can write and not feel cramped. But this is a small one - and I like it. A lot. It's small enough to fit in my purse, and given the purpose of this book, that's awesome. For something like this, you WANT something small enough to fit in your bag so that when you've got a few minutes, you can pull it out, write in it, and stick it back in. For me, I can discreetly pull this out while I'm killing time in court (we're not allowed to read books or fool around on our iPads as we wait for the judge to take the bench), and write a few sentences and stick it right back in my briefcase. People just assume that it's a little personal diary and I'm writing a grocery list or something. It's innocuous but more importantly, very convenient. Plus, it's lovely. It has gilded pages, and I think they're so pretty. I have no idea how well they will hold up over the years, but I don't really care. They're pretty now and even if they fade a little, so what? I noticed that many of the other reviews complain that the binding is tight and makes it hard to write in the middle pages of this book. I can offer some help with that issue. It's probably true that the binding is a bit tight. This is what you should do with ANY book where the binding is tight: 1. Hold the book so that it rests on its spine. Rest it on the table on the spine. 2. Let the front cover fall open, and down. Press it down a little, gently, so that it lies flat on the table. 3. Do the same with the back cover. 4. When both the front and back cover are flat on the table, with the pages pointing up, then take a few pages from the front and gently press them down to rest on the front cover. 5. Take a few pages from the back and gently press them down to rest on the back cover. 6. Keep doing this until you get to the middle of the book and all the pages are resting flat. This is the best way to loosen the binding gently, without damaging or breaking it. This is exactly what I did when I first got this journal. I loosened the binding gently so that I coudl use it and have not had any trouble writing it. If you are too rough with it, you risk damaging the binding or breaking it, which you don't want to do. Just follow my instructions and you'll loosen it properly, and be able to enjoy this journal for a long time.

Do You Like to Think and Write?
In a book I read recently, the author said she liked to ask herself questions and write the answers to them. If you like to write and like to think about diverse topics, you might enjoy the exercise to stretch your mind. It's said that 90% of the thought we have are repetitive. So, to get ourselves out of the repetitive rut, it's good to be asked questions. This Q&A a Day: 5 Year Journal does that. There are 365 questions for you to answer over the next 5 years. It will be fun to look back and see what you are thinking on any day on particular topics. Some questions are profound such as what is your mission? Some questions are light and frothy such as What's the most expensive thing you're wearing now? I sometimes tailor the question if I don't feel like answering the one asked to something similar. For example, instead of what's the most expensive think you're wearing, asked what items of clothes do you hanker for now? The appearance of this journal is attractive--love the gold-tipped pages and lovely cover. Like other reviewers would have LOVED a ribbon to hold your place. I like the small size of this as it's big enough to record 3-5 short sentences per day and fits on my side table with other books--bought it along with The Happiness Project One-Sentence Journal: A Five-Year Record and they're both about the same size. My grandmother kept a 5-year journal. It is fun to look back and see what you were thinking about and doing several years ago in the different chapters of your life. This is a great original gift to give to another for people who like to write, think, be creative and read.

Love this little journal!
This is a great LITTLE journal. It measures 4.3 x 1.3 x 6.3 inches. Even though it's small in size, it's really a beautiful journal. The cover is thick and the edges are gilded which makes it a very striking little book. On the inside you'll find one page for every day of the year. Each page has a question at the top and about 4 lines for each of the 5 years. Each lined section starts with 20__ so you can enter the year you are doing. You only get 4 lines for each year to answer, but honestly, I haven't needed more than 4 lines because the questions are pretty basic. For instance, yesterday it asked "What's the last movie you rented?". Really don't need very much room to answer the questions, even the more thought provoking ones. So why didn't I give it 5 stars? Well, two small reasons really. Both reasons have been stated in other reviews. It does not lay flat so it makes it a bit difficult to write neatly. And the other reason being it doesn't have a ribbon to hold your place. I didn't think it would really bother me, but the book really is pretty and a place holding ribbon really would have made it even better! I feel like I'm doing it a disservice to have to rustle through the pages to find my current date and an even bigger disservice to use a sticky note or even a bookmark! Overall I really adore this little journal! It would make a great gift for a loved one or even for yourself!

Priceless Journal to use for years.
I am grateful for the journal. I bought this book back in 2020. Over the last 5 years, It has allowed me to see inward, plan my future and really reflected on my life. Each day, I am able to check in with myself and watch me grow as a person. This book was a key tool in my self love journey. I have the couples Q & A book as well. We're on out 2nd book. I love to go back and see the pages where we're just open and loving with each other. It help us stay on track and connected as a unit. I always recommend it to newlyweds. I'm so happy with the journals.

The perfect, easiest gift for people of any age
I like the questions, they are small portraits of what I'm currently doing and feeling. They also make me think about myself and my life, drawing out good memories for me to ponder. Many questions are quirky, and bring out my sense of humor upon answering them. I like to add more substance to my answers, rather than just answering "what I'm currently reading" (which is The Hobbit!), I wrote my opinion about it (awesome!), and added the graphic novel (Saga!) I just finished. I think it's a REALLY great personal project, I'm excited to continue writing in it, and reading it in other years. I wonder what will be different, what will be the same. With that knowledge and perspective, I can decide whether I'm staying true to my goals, matured, or even if my attitude has taken a turn for the worse and therefore I should reconsider my path. It would be an AWESOME high school, creative writing project to give to students, and continue through school and college years. I would have loved to have this back then, and to be able to now see what my life really was (or how I viewed at that moment). It'd be a great gift for any age, high school, college, work-place adult, whatever! And to think, maybe my kids would see this one day; it would definitely be interesting! They would forever have a tangible piece of me that they could come back to again and again, even if it's quirky questions and random facts. I really have nothing bad to say at all about this product, shipping, quality, whatever. Next year, I'm definitely buying it for my sister and friends!!

Great for people who want to start a diary but stuck for what to write
I really wanted to start writing a diary, not so much to document my life, but just for something to look back on in years to come. I'm no good at the traditional method of keeping a diary because 1) I never know what to write that isn't the same mundanestuff. 2) I usually always give up within the first week or so. This 5 year journal is perfect for people like me. It gives you numbered pages but with 5 blank year dates so you can start at any time of the year (just simply turn to that day) and even if you stop and then start again later down the line, it doesn't matter, it'd just mean you might not have the same years written all throughout the journal. For example I started it half way through 2011, stopped after a month or so and then started again 1st January 2013. I did read through some of the answers I'd written 2 years ago, and it was interesting to see how things have changed since then, and also to have a nice reminder of some joyful memories I had forgotten about. People might not think that they can change within the space of a few short years, but the answers you will write in this journal for each day for 5 years, is proof that you can! It's also a nice way of jotting down some special things you don't want to forget. Some example questions include: What is your mission? What is the last TV show you watced? Jot down a news story from today. How much spare change do you have? What was your favourite day this week? What's your hairstyle? Today you wore _____ Where do you think you road is going? Bad news: sugar coated or straight up? Who is the last person in your missed calls? Halloween plans? What's your costume? What time did you go to bed last night? Did you meet someone new recently? If so, who was it? Yes or no: everyone should have a back-up plan. This journal is a great way of getting to know you, and how you've changed over the years. It asks both insightful and random questions, so every aspect is covered. It also makes a nice memoir of yourself to read in later years or to give to your children etc. My only problem is that I cant wait to answer the question for the next day!

Must buy!!
It's really high quality and looks very aesthetic. I bought it as a gift for my brother and he loved it. Must buy!!! I was a little concerned if the quality of questions would not be up to the mark but I have read about 40 at random and they're really good questions. My only issue is it's a little small in size but the pros make up for it.
