Looks great once everything is shell swapped from the original but the joycons are very fiddly, very fragile in places and it's a bit of a nerve wracking experience. There's lots of video guides made by people online to know what you're in for and how to complete the transfer. Take things slow and be VERY careful; I've seen social media posts of people breaking the joycon battery connector clean off the board during shell swaps and other general repairs. It does have a slightly rubbery coating to it which does feel good right now but I do have concerns about its longevity as I once had an MP3 player with a similar rubber coating that dissolved into a sticky mess after around ten years in storage so here's hoping this finishing treatment avoids the same fate. Does come with a bunch of optional replacement screws (which I didn't use), although I didn't see any replacement screw for the kickstand so make sure you don't lose that original screw and the metal clip for it when swapping the back part of the LCD Switch.

This backplate/joycon replacement both looks and feels great (super smooth!!), and it fits perfectly as well. Only issue I had was an original screw that stripped and took some finessing to get out. The backplate itself is super easy to change otherwise. Joycons are a little more fiddly with some cables and stuff to disconnect and re-connect. My only issue with my order was that I didn't get the dustproof net/mesh for the speakers, so I had to remove the ones from the orginal backplate, and use a thin, double sided tape to get them onto the new one. Another note is that I bought separate screwdrivers for this, and didn't use the ones included so I can't speak for their quality.

Well, this shell is great to work with, everything's within tolerance and fits perfectly together and over the Switch. The kit comes complete with everything you need to a reshell, including screws and every button. I'm giving it 4 stars however for 2 small problems of the same issue - the screw holes. 2 of the screw holes were not formed structural very well and stripped out the inner plastic. And no, I wasn't being heavy handed, and yes, I used the correct (new) screws. The core immediately started to strip out a thin reel of plastic, so the screw would not tighten. Luckily it was a simple fix of using a slightly oversized screw to cure the issue. Maybe it was just a bad shell.

The switch is passing down from our 13.5 year old boy to our 4.5 year old girl for Xmas. He didn’t look after it too well and had a lot of scratches and his left joy con was drifting, the joy cons also weren’t securing to the switch as strong as they used to. Came across ExtremeRate products on Amazon and realised I would be able to do a complete re-shelling and fix up of the console to make it more girly too. I have little to no experience when it comes to things like this but I have never been too afraid to open things up and give things a try. First of all, I replaced the drifting joy stick, then I swapped out the plastic clips for metal ones before starting on re-shelling the joy cons themselves. It look a little bit of examining and playing about to figure out how it comes apart and goes back together, but it was not overly complex. The came the big job, the console itself. The new case came with a back shell but no front so I opted for white front shell to contrast the rear shell and component some of the white features of the new shell. I initially took apart the entire console, but for bit, mapping out the screws as I went along. I ensured I was meticulous and slow. After doing that I realised that I could have just separated the digitiser screen from the front shell to expose the screws and not dismantled it all. I made I few little mistakes putting it back together, nothing too worrying, so ending up closing and re-opening the console a few times but after some persistence and care I got there. The trickiest part was removing the digitiser, it’s pretty well stuck down and I also didn’t use heat to soften it up but I was gentle and careful. I think the end results speak for itself. It looks amazing and has added a whole new life to a 4 year old console. The warranty is long gone so there was no risk of losing that anyway. The replacement parts are all high quality, even down to the tiniest of screws. I have now ordered some Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut to top up the thermal paste on the heat sink (as it was starting to look a little dried up) just to be sure and keep the console as cool as possible, so one more open up and job done in time for Xmas. Would highly recommend these products! If I can do it, you can too.

The yellow is a beautiful colour. The feel is absolutely amazing. It feels soft and smooth, kind of like it would scratch easily with a fingernail, but it definitely doesn't scratch easily. The backplate is pretty simple to replace, but anyone that has replaced the covers for the joy-cons knows how much of a pain they can be, especially getting the ribbon cables back in properly. Thankfully I'd done this before to change the joysticks so knew what to expect. These covers though are amazing quality and I couldn't recommend them enough. I even ended up buying the dock cover as well so that it all matches because it really is beautiful like in this colour. The feel of the Switch now though is something else.

I tried to replace his back off my console and then realised I was putting the screwdriver into the back I realised it’s stripped the screw was turning the screw driver wouldn’t recommend the screwdriver kit to be honest we’re back plate rivits don’t really hold the screws and I’ve got one stuck at the bottom and now can’t get it out I wouldn’t recommend these to be honest with you the housing for the joy cons are good at the back plate wasn’t very wasn’t really happy with the outcome And now can’t get my switch repaired as don’t know anywhere that will do it now has replaced it

it was easy to replace the back panel, there were a couple misaligned screw holes but it wasn’t too big of an issue. the kick stand doesn’t have silicone on the bottom so may slide a bit and my back panel and joycons were two different colours.

Honestly such a good case for the switch, its an exact match even down to the smallest details like this sponges that are provided. My joycons were also drifting tons so I had replaced that within this build. The video that's provided is also really easy to follow, should take someone about an hour to do it all, once you've done the right joycon, you pretty much fly through the left one. Some bits can be a little tricky in terms of springs but really pay attention to the tool they use, get yourself a pair of tweezers which and a plastic scrapper, this will make it much much easier

Muy bonitos pero la punta del destornillador de tres lados no encaja en los tornillos así que imposible desmontar la switch. Espero que el resto tenga más suerte.

Die Farben sind kräftig, das Material fühlt sich wertig an, und die Oberfläche bietet eine angenehme Griffigkeit, die sich viel besser anfühlt als das glatte Original-Gehäuse der Switch. Wer seine Konsole optisch aufwerten will, kommt hier voll auf seine Kosten. Die Installation erfordert etwas Geduld, da man die Joy-Cons tatsächlich auseinanderbauen muss. Wer noch nie an seiner Switch geschraubt hat, sollte sich vorher ein gutes Tutorial (bspw. vom Hersteller selbst) anschauen. Aber: Alle nötigen Werkzeuge sind dabei, und wenn man sich einmal reingefuchst hat, klappt es problemlos. Das Ergebnis lohnt sich auf jeden Fall! Nach dem Umbau liegt die Switch einfach besser in der Hand. Die texturierte Oberfläche verhindert, dass sie rutscht, und das neue Gehäuse fühlt sich insgesamt hochwertiger an als das Original. Es gibt auch keine Einschränkungen bei der Nutzung, alle Tasten und Funktionen bleiben wie gewohnt erhalten. Wer Lust auf eine individuelle Optik und bessere Haptik hat, bekommt mit diesem Gehäuse ein echtes Upgrade für seine Switch. Die Installation braucht etwas Zeit, aber das Ergebnis ist die Mühe wert. Klare Kaufempfehlung für alle, die ihre Switch aufpeppen wollen! ⭐
