Great Installer
Installed this on a old pc I built about 2007 that had winXP. Don't know a whole lot about Linux, but pc seems to run better than before. I first tried to download Ubuntu off of the web, but couldn't get it to install so I just went with this and it did the trick first try. If not for gaming I would put it on my other pc too.

Excellent service thru Amazon! Could have gotten if straight off the net and installed the whole thing myself but decided for that low Amazon price,it was worth saving the hassle. Installed VERY easily and quickly. Am most pleased to be rid of Microsoft Window.Couldn't live anymore with AMAZON!

Awesome! Always best and first choice is DVD if you have a DVD drive
I bought this when I have issues booting my Sony Vaio with a USB stick. Luckily I've a DVD drive attached with my Sony Vaio. Inserted the disk and Installed Ubuntu in minutes.Felt relieved after breaking head to create a boot-able USB stick.

I'm happy to have this DVD available as an option instead
It's been a long time since I used Linux. Digging through my CD's, the most recent one I have a burned copy of was 7.04, titled Fiesty Fawn. That was released way back in 2007. Obviously things have changed quite a bit since then.Yes, I still know how to download a copy of the software myself. Yes, I know where to download it from, and I realize that it's free for me to do so. And yes, I know how to set it up so that the download would run in the middle of the night or any other time I'm not using the network so as to eliminate any possible slowdowns of my speed. But frankly, I'm happy to have this DVD available as an option instead. It's nice to have all those small, easy, but potentially headache inducing things taken care of for you. I remember attempting to burn a CD of a linux installation. I tried burning it 3 times, without it working. Then I re-downloaded it, and tried again, and it still didn't work. It was a few hours of frustration that I really didn't need, just to get an installation CD that worked properly. Buying this DVD takes away all that hassle, and lets you get right to the installation. I like that. Back when I had more free time, spending it on downloading and burning the DVD was fine. Now, I'd rather source that out to someone else, and use my time for something more valuable to me.I'm not going to review the operating system itself here. There are much more in depth reviews out there than I care to do in an Amazon review. Know that getting this DVD is a simple way to get started in the Linux world, and it saves you the headache and decision making necessary to get it on your own. In my mind, it's well worth it for that reason alone. The only negative thing I have to say about this is that the instructions (4 stapled quarter sheets that look like they're off a home printer) are not polished, or very useful. In fact, they refer to this as a Live Boot USB, when it is clearly a DVD. Not a big deal in my case, and I'd imagine anyone who's willing to dive into ubuntu will have enough knowledge to figure out how to boot from the DVD, but still worth noting.Note that I received this at a discount in exchange for my honest review. That does not change my opinion of the product in any way. I still feel it is worth purchasing for anyone who values their time and wants to start using Linux, or anyone who just wants a backup DVD available.
