Superlatives All Around
After tumbling over a waterfall of considerable height, I require extraordinary care. This has provided me with many nights of restful sleep. And a clear conscience, I might add. Moriarty

Meets my expectations
The mattress needs few days to decompress. It smells funny but smell goes away.My first thought after using it was "it is to thin". I am 170cm tall and skinny and I am used to sleep on very hard mattresses, but mattresses are much thicker than this futon. Maybe a little bit of fat would be helpful. Also, I am not using any mat underneath. I believe any camping/gym mat will solve this problem. Nevertheless I have kept using it and now I do not notice this as much as at the beginning. I am happy with its thickness, I can roll it and put duvet on it and it doesn't pile into 2m tall tower.I recommend buying cover as well.I you are heavy I would suggest to look for something thicker, as it might be too hard for you.

Well made
Very well made and comfortable. I use it as a air mattress topper with a fitted sheet over it. A bit heavy to carry for me, I'm 70. When not in use I keep it in a space bag folded in quarters. I purchased a full size. I find it's not comfortable just on the floor or carpet.4☆ for that reason only.

Never received the item, but how convenient for the item still be for sale at a higher price.
I've been having back pain every morning after waking up. I figured it was my super soft bed not being supportive enough. I thought I'd give this futon a try, because it is made in Japan and I wanted an extra firm mattress but not sleep on the bare floor. So I purchased this, total came to $136. The 2nd day after it shipped I got an email stating that my package is running late and that I could wait or just get a refund. I wanted the item so I waited... after about 10 days I gave up and requested a refund. All along the item is still being sold but at a much higher $158. No thanks.I'll just get one of those cheap $40-80 ones. Based on the reviews they are all pretty much the same more or less.

High-quality Japanese products.
I received this product and immediately tried it as a futon. Despite its thin appearance, the balance between firmness and softness was just right, and I didn't feel any strain on my body while sleeping. When actually sleeping, I laid it on top of a carpet. Whether laid directly on the floor like in Japan or used with a bed frame, it seems comfortable to sleep on either way. The size is Twin (100cm x 200cm), so it's a perfect size for one adult and one child to sleep on. My child also liked this new, fluffy futon. This futon is made in Japan, with very beautiful stitching and no fraying or damage. However, since it cannot be washed or dried, I plan to use a waterproof bed cover to prevent it from getting dirty.

Unhappy with this product
I purchased a japanese grass mat from this company as well and was so excited to do something good for my back but this futon has not inflated properly despite being in a sunny room.I don't know if this means anything but my futon did not come in the same packaging as seen in photos by others. I did not receive instructions or origami either which makes me wonder if I received a recalled product.Super unsatisfied with this experience.

actual floor mattress
Mainly, I notice immediately that it's the real deal--when you squeeze the mattress, you notice there is definitely a dense inner core to it (aka HARDMARBLE Katawata). A lot of the Japanese mattresses now are made of a springier, less-supportive (my opinion) urethane foam. Many sellers (i.e., Fuli) have switched to urethane foam--maybe to make it lighter and save on shipping costs. Note that the "item weight" for this Miina mattress is 13.17lbs (for a twin). It's the heaviest Japanese mattress you'll find on Amazon--a good thing. My experience sleeping on it: I have it atop a 2" or so thick tatami mat--and also atop my old flat-as-a-pancake Japanese mattress. Just FYI--it sort of boggles my mind that reviewers regard a mattress as "thin" when the whole point/idea, to me, is that you can add rug(s), comforter(s), tatami, old/flattened Japanese mattresses, etc. until you get just the right firmness for your body/back. This ability to precisely dial in that firmness (and change it at any time if you want) is what makes this way of sleeping so great. So I highly recommend being creative with what you put under the mattress (if anything). To me, it's a high-quality mattress. Best one I've had in my 10-odd years of sleeping on Japanese mattresses.
