This latch kit fit easy peasy in the original bolt holes. The only modification needed was trimming the latch push about a 1/4 inch. I was able to with a serrated knife. As it was too thich for a scissor. The old system that broke after decades of use was made with metal pieces. This is plastic so not certain on how long it’ll last in comparison. The door will be replaced in the next year or two so no concerns on longevity. Install time was a few minutes. I’d acquainted myself with the directions prior so only needed the final step. Make certain to install the spring correctly. Or it’ll get stuck when you figure out it is the worn way and it’s a beaner to unstuck to restore correctly. The only issue I had was in regard to the vintage door of the house and how the previous people installed this more modern screen door to the trim. The latch barely protrudes far enough even with the two small plastic shims provided to hold the door secure. So needed a tiny modification. Using who shims to help. I’m happy with the price and functionality. Ease of install. Handle quality is adequate for our needs. Looks nicer than the OG white handle that came with the door. Probably in the 70’s. Since it is made of metal. Which cracked in cold weather and lots of use over the years. I’d recommend this product to replace a broken handle. Might need to get creative with the latch holder for a perfect fit. Other than this scored a win without having to run to the store.

I've built several screen doors for out home and a couple of friends homes. Normally buy parts from HD but since I was ordering a soft door closer from Amazon I figured I would just get one from here as well. Built the screen door and installed it with little to no difficulty. Adjusted everything and it worked fine. Closer left a little bit to be desired but not bad overall. A couple of hours later when I went to exit and depressed the inside latch the assembly broke apart. I picked up the parts and found the actual spring-loaded latch had broken off. Contacted Amazon but only option I had was to call manufacturer. Called them and explained and they said contact Amazon. Explained what Amazon had said and the rep started telling me I was going to have to take pictures, write detailed explanation of what happened, etc. It's a cheap 7 dollar part and I just wanted to get it replaced. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DON'T GET THIS POS. I just went down to Home Depot and paid 10 bucks for a unit a little bit better than this one. UPDATE: Bought another one since is was cheap and less of a headache than trying to get this thing replaced. Also a piece of junk. Same exact thing happened. Plastic push button actuator pin in handle keeps deflecting off to the side and binding on inner latch. Makes the latch bind and not function. Had to basically jam my knife inbetween the jam and the screen door to open it. Then it broke. What a waste of money.

Worked great to replace a broken latch on a old storm door UPDATE: 7/30/25 The latch randomly broke apart on me not even 3 weeks being used and I don’t even use that door every day. Reached out to the company hoping for a replacement - will update if they get back to me Update 7/31 They got back to me quick and are helping me resolve the issue. Good company stands behind their product

Well to be honest, this is the second one that a buy...it works fine, but if it will be on a main door that u open every minute, then it probably won't last long..it's on a good price , durability is ok and super easy to install too...it fits on almost any door..y made mi..also it have a lock , if u don't want n mo mm

This was a replacement for an existing screen door handle/lock. My bad! I'm sorry Amazon, I returned this product due to a faulty lock. When I fitted the replacement, (which arrived next day), I still couldn't operate the locking mechanism. However, I noticed that when I loosened the securing screws the lock operated as expected. It took a moment, but I realized the plastic push bar was too long for the thickness of the screen door. Once I snipped a quarter inch off, the locked worked perfectly!

Lasted 2 years before the spring broke and had to be replaced, so keep that in mind. Otherwise, fine cheap door handle. Not going to lie, it's not top of the line, but works for what you need.

I was skeptic when purchasing this screen porch door latch, thinking it would be a mismatch of parts where I would have to do lots of adaptations... BUT NOI, it was a very straight forward installation and it looks and feels great opening / closing the porch / patio door. It's TOP QUALITY product for a reasonable price. This is cheap crap. I've had to take it apart several times to make it work again. Push too hard and it gets stuck. The lock piece has fallen out and I had to put it back. I'm fed up with fixing it and will be getting something better.
