Reader rabbit kindergarten
Bought for my granddaughter , as her mother commented how well it helped her as a child .Loaded easily onto a laptop running Vista although the package stated it was for windows 95/98Granddaughter has been playing continually for hours .Program is good for support of lessons being taught in counting , left vs right and some phonic speech .Play is greater than lessons . currently using it as a reward for successfully completing lessons.

Product wise, this is NOT the Reader Rabbit from back in the 80's/early 90's, and it's actually a bad thing.Back then the series was a perfect balance of game and education. Now it's more all pointless, irrelevant games and a lot less actual reading.Hope some day the Learning Company does Reader Rabbit some justice.

Five Stars
Great program! My kids loved it. Just check your computer operating system to make sure it will work.

Great for children, but a real pain to set up and use
As other reviewers have stated, it's an excellent interactive learning experience for your child. I give it 4 or 5 stars on that alone. But I was dismayed to find that the setup process stuck an AOL promotion on my desktop (my other Reader Rabbit programs also did it). And of course, the unwelcome desktop icon was just a shortcut; I had to search in the Programs folder for the AOL executable file in order to delete it.This sort of thing is not terribly unusual with free applications that you download from the Internet, but when I pay money for a program, I don't expect it to invade my computer with adware junk.Another problem is that once you've started one of the programs running, there's no way to back out of it or shut it down before it quits. There's no right-click menu with a Cancel button or anything like that. Very inconvenient if you're simply giving a program a quick test. I had to use the Windows CTRL-ALT-DEL trick to shut it down in midstream.Still another gripe: the install process does not put the entire disc on your hard drive. To run the program, you have to insert it in your CD or DVD drive before starting it from the Program menu. Remember computers in 1980 with 2 floppy discs to make anything work?Bottom line: great for the kid, but a pain in the behind for whoever does computers in your home.

Reader Rabbit is Fun
My four year old can do this with very little help. It is a great program. There are matching problems, problem solving games, introduction to time, and more. Children have to work through a variety of games and activities to earn things for a final event. It keeps them occupied and working towards a goal. That is great.I really enjoy the Reader Rabbit programs and this one is no exception.Enjoy.

Not Compatible with any version of Windows later than Windows 95.
Why is this program even for sale anymore? I bought it thinking that Windows 7 compatibility troubleshooter would take care of the problem. Nope. Won't run. Checked for help everywhere on the Net. OK. No problem that it doesn't work but then why is it for sale then? Modern software programs can't run it!Seems a bit scam-ish to me. Save yourself hours of troubleshooting and headaches. DON'T BUY THIS PROGRAM if you are running anything other than a REAL version of Windows 95. Yeah....right? Windows 95! You will be wasting your money.
