My new BFF.. love this more than words say
Love this. Very sturdy. Need two people to assemble. I struggled with latch for lid and had to get help from someone with better engineering skills than myself but worry not, he told me I was just stupid and the latch was not hard to install : ). I expect this to be with me forever. I donât like cheap stuff and I was very impressed with the quality.I use a deep litter box so extra wall doesnât fit but I find almost zero litter dragged outside of box. The lid stays open when cleaning as advertised.I needed a better option for the litter box and found the plastic domes ugly. I didnât know these existed and am glad I kept looking. It doesn't look like a litter box, it looks like a pretty nice piece of furniture. Whoever wrote the instruction book had a sense of humor... it was an added bonus to get a laugh while assembling the thing.I recommend this to all of my friends and actually have had TWO of my girlfriends purchase this. My one friend hates cleaning her litter box and she bought this so you know her cats are not going to be happy because if youre an "out of sight out of mind" personality you'll never clean your litter box and that is her. That's why she bought this because she's hoping this thing will trap some of the smell her litter box emits. (UPDATE: I truly think her house smells less gross because of this new box. If she reads my review she's going to be hurt... Leeann I love you but you live like a pig!)

BEST Smell Control/Most Discrete box
We live in the city and space is at a premium. We first purchased this enclosure about 4 years ago and love love love it. It is the best solution we have found for our two cats (7lbs and 15lbs) by far. Here's why:1) Looks pretty good: Actually passes for a piece of furniture so long as the opening is turned away from clear view entering the home. In our case, matches most of our furniture.2) Wipes clean: In this case, press board with a veneer is a blessing. It is dark and can pass, but it ISN'T real wood either. Therefore, as easy to wipe off on the exterior as your usual IKEA fare.3) Can be easily modified to be even better: We sprayed down the entire interior with black silicone sealant to make it mess and "water" proof. Then we added a hook on the inside to hang the scoop. Now the inside can be wiped clean too and the scoop is hidden out of sight but ready to use. Makes good = GREAT.4) BIGGEST AND MOST IMPORTANT REASON BY FAR - Secondary panel keeps the smell trapped: With the top only lid and secondary panel it really, really, really makes a giant difference in the smell. This is HUGE in a small space. I know some say this is uncomfortable for their cats, but mine got used to it immediately and seem to manage. I don't think they'd enjoy a different box with a no doubt different but basically equal issue better, and in our house the human's comfort comes first. How much of a difference this does for smell is incredible. I love this enclosure and can't be said enough - no other configuration we've tried (opens with doors like a cabinet, hole on the top, no secondary panel) has done the trick like this combination has done. In a single room space loft NO ONE can smell my litter. I recommended it to my sister too and she got the white one and feels the same. GREAT GREAT GREAT product. My husband and I routinely say this is the best purchase we have made.* Note, we also use higher quality, shredded pine (not pellet) litter that helps with the stink, but I know by what it is like opening the lid of this thing that 99.9% of the smell control is the enclosure itself.Sadly, this box broke in our last move, and now that I am getting another I am not even considering another style. I am being this same enclosure again and happy to do it. BEST value, look, clean-ability, and smell control.

Looks, works well, but not the easiest to put together!
This is a great way to camouflage your cat litter box. It looks nice put together and seems to work pretty well. It won't eliminate litter being tracked out by your cat(s), but it will help minimize it and not advertise that you have a litter box in the room. The instructions are pretty good and the manufacture errs on the side of providing extra screws and connectors. I'm sure it doesn't mean there will never be a shortage, but any time I get a item to assemble and there's actually an extra screw or dowel, I know it's a manufacture that cares about the customer. The first thing you need to think about before putting this together is where will you place it. You can assemble it with either a right or left side opening, but more importantly (and the instructions don't include this) think about whether or not you want to place it up against the wall. The decorative extensions/sides to the cover are nice, but it means to open the top lid to scoop the litter, you have to place the unit at least 4 inches away from the wall. If you want to place it flush against the wall, leave off the decorative slats.I did read a couple of the reviews complaining about smell... My recommendation: the interior space for the litter box (if you want the divider) is on the smaller side. You can fit a litter box about 18" x 15". And I have two male cats who "pee high" You'll need a low sided litter box so that they can get in/out and because it's in an enclosed space, your cats will effectively assume the litter box sides go all the way to the top. I've taken the extra precaution to line the litter box section of the interior with some plastic. I can clean this out / change the plastic easily without worrying about urine seeping into the wood, both ruining the wood and letting the odor set in. This will keep the box clean and functional even as I can't keep my cats from aiming high.It does take a while to assemble and there are a couple steps that are possible for one person alone to accomplish, but better with two. A few of the pieces are pretty thin and help you realize this isn't the highest quality wood. I do laugh that it's designed to look like a bench, but the instructions say you shouldn't sit or stand on it. It's plenty sturdy to sit on occasionally, but I think you can take the instructions to mean that it's not meant to be a regular / frequently used piece of sitting furniture. It would be great if the manufacturer included a couple black plugs to put in the holes that are used for the top decorative slats in case you don't want to use them. Overall, I do recommend this as a great way to camouflage your litter box if you don't have a place in your home to otherwise hide it.
