Jon Favreau is back in the writer/ actor /director chair with Chef, his latest concoction. It is a return to his indie roots peppered with appearances from close friends such as Robert Downey Jr., Dustin Hoffman, Scarlett Johansson and the irresistible Sofia Vergara. A road trip from Miami via New Orleans, Austin to LA, or from Salsa to Brass Band, Country & Hip Hop.In the words of Variety's Joe Leydon: "The eclectic mix of musical selections chosen by music supervisor Mathieu Schreyer could encourage many ticket-buyers to rush home and download the entire soundtrack."

This soundtrack makes me feel alive and want to dance!!
I gotta say that I am no big fan of Jon Favreau, so when his movie Chef came out, I wasn't all that enthused about seeing it. Then a friend or two on social media said they thought I'd like it and I thought "Eh, what the heck." and I went. I LOVED IT!The music was a huge element throughout the movie and I knew when I left the theatre that day that I HAD to have the soundtrack. I have been playing it every time I clean and do chores around the house. I dance and sing to it and really enjoy its spirit.I especially enjoy the Latino/Cubano music on the soundtrack, and the older dance standards that have been redone in this style.Absolutely recommend this soundtrack...and the movie!

Fun soundtrack
I love this movie! The real story centers on the relationship between the father and the son, but the plot and background settings are fun! If you want an action movie, try something else. If you want to root for the little guy and enjoy a story that takes place in legendary restaurants from Miami Beach to Texas with a stop-off in New Orleans, you will enjoy this movie. The music is fantastic, and I bought the soundtrack because I loved the movie so much. There's a lot of Latin music, with some reggae thrown in for good measure. Check it out.

Great addition to my collection
When the credits were rolling, I was telling my fellow patrons that I was going to buy the soundtrack. All the music is so good! I do have a favorite track; track 12 - Sexual Healing by the Hot 8 Brass Band. I feel Favreau did a great thing by giving the listener great covers, some original tracks, and some that have been used in sampling so much that you think the song you know it from is going to play.Great purchase all around. It hasn't left my car since it arrived.

Great music from a film about great food
Last week I streamed the film "Chef," Jon Favreau's film about an LA chef who has a media blowup that makes him unemployable in LA, who then acquires a food truck in Miami and does a road trip to New Orleans and Austin on his way back to LA. I had wanted to see it in a theater but it had a short shelf life. I enjoyed the film very much. The food scenes are incredible food porn (and food love, it doesn't have to be all porn.) Scarlet Johansen has a role as a waitress, and she looks good but, God, the food looks great! Besides Johansen, Robert Downey Jr., Dustin Hoffman, Sofia Vergara (using, as a reviewer noted, her inside voice for once,) Oliver Platt, John Leguizamo, all have roles.A well done small personal film that the reviewers generally found pleasant enough but fainted on praise for not exploring new dramatic ground and having a predictable arc of recovery. Loss due to personal failings greatly assisted by outside factors and then recovery and redemption. How humdrum. Drug or alcohol addiction followed by suicide would have been more compelling?I heartily recommend the film but I also greatly enjoyed the soundtrack. I immediately ordered the soundtrack CD from Amazon and am listening to it now. Salsa, soul, blues, reggae, country, hip-hop, this is a wonderful collection.I recommend both the film and the soundtrack.

Vamos Chef!
Heard it in the movie by the same name. Lots of good vibrant music, that accentuated the movie just perfectly. Lots of tunes, I think it runs over 70 minutes of playing song, so I consider that very generous, and money well spent. Really liked the movie and the music, perhaps not all the songs are the exact same level, but there is surely no dud. 4.5 Stars.

I gave the Momma's and Papa's Greatest hits and Chef soundtrack to my sister for her ...
I gave the Momma's and Papa's Greatest hits and Chef soundtrack to my sister for her 68th birthay. She was so surprised and loved them. The Carpenters and John Denver are Christmas gifts for my husband and sister. I love Amazon. The great shipping, prices, and easy way to order. My husband and I live up in the mountains of NC. Not a lot of stores around so doing Birthdays, and Christmas shopping with Amazon is fabulous.

Delicious soundtrack!
I, like others have mentioned before me here, could not sit still during the movie because of all the great music! My date even leaned over and told me that he HAD to get the soundtrack. From Brass Zydeco to Austin Blues and Cuban mambo, the music takes the lead with the cuisine in this movie. Thiis a no-brainer amigos: Go see the movie, buy the soundtrack. Life is good.

You can't stop dancing!
A first I thought the album was "mixed" for listening through an IPod; the bass and lows are severe at times. However as I keep listening to the music this album really keeps you listening. As good as the movie is, this album really pushes the theme to the top. The music moves you through all kinds of emotional image. I highly recommend it.
