Q: How do you know this is the real deal and not counterfeited? I thought professional hair products like Paul Mitchell's could only be sold in salons?

No professional products are guaranteed unless sold in a salon or by a hairdresser. Paul MItchell products say that directly on all their bottles. You must have a cosmetology license to sell professional products, I know because I am a licensed cosmetologist.

Q: Is the consistency supposed to be watery? I bought mine at a reputable salon but it almost seems diluted. The consistency is that of water.

I don't believe it should be watery. I first purchased mine at the salon I've gone to for 24 years. The product I purchased here online is of the same consistency as the original product. It is thicker and creamier than a watered down shampoo. It has an off white opaque look and a strong fragrance.
