Work vaseline into the waistband, and that will serve to repel the water.

Q: I have a pair of shorts that have dried white paint. The fabric is a poly/rayon and hoping it will dye out the white paint?

Unfortunately, our dyes will not have any effect on the white paint although it may tint the white a bit. Also, This dye is for natural fabrics, such as cotton, linen, wool, silk and ramie. It also dyes rayon and nylon. If the garment you want to dye contains more than 35% synthetic material (such as polyester, acrylic or acetate), then you must use Rit DyeMore Synthetic Fiber Dye instead.
