Our water colour papers are made on a traditional cylinder mould at a paper mill in France, following a practice that dates back to the 19th century. A slowly rotating cylinder mould picks up the 100% cellulose wood pulp and puts it onto a continuously moving woolen felt. This ensures the fibers are dispersed randomly and are interwoven. As these fibers lock together, they give the paper far greater strength and dimensional stability, minimizing warping or cockling when water is absorbed by the paper. Our classic paper is made with the finest cellulose wood pulp. This makes it a more affordable yet still exceptionally high-quality alternative to 100% cotton. As part of ensuring this quality, we conduct sophisticated testing and monitoring. Every sheet is individually inspected to assure the finest quality.

Fantastic paper !
One of the best cotton watercolor paper I have ever tried. It is similar to Arches, even better in my opinion. It’s accessible, the paper is high white instead of off white and it’s way affordable than Arches, especially the blocks. The cold press texture is the same for both of them. The watercolors slides amazingly on it and it can handle a lot of layering . I recommend it.

Exceptional Quality Paper
A fantastic 100 percent cotton paper that I have tested thoroughly, it can take extreme abuse and still hold its own. It’s better than Arches IMHO. It holds colour great, it stays wet longer and it’s very strong. I’ve just bought it again. Next purchase will be to try their hot pressed. For people complaining about the black glue, this should be hidden when you add a mount before framing, otherwise take the slightest slither of paper off the edges with a paper cutter when finished. It’s a simple fix. Clear glue yellows anyway so you would need to do this irrespective of colour of glue used or manufacturer.

Insanely expensive now.
The paper is great i bought it a few days ago for £24 and for that it is brilliant. The price has just shot up by £6 to 30. I wont be buying it for that. 30 pound for 20 sheets. Of course not. Lol silly Windsor and Newton. Also i would also look eslewhere for watercolours as W&N are insanely priced. The gouache is excellent value at the moment but the do seem to be in a greedy stage in the business model at the mo.

Brilliant watercolour block!
I love this, it feels professional and because it is a block, it doesn't warp. It's a little less forgiving than some beginner papers and I made a few mistakes on it as the grain was smoother and paint ran where it shouldn't, but I am a total beginner and I got better at avoiding this. Pictures painted on this block look lovely. This is a block, not a pad. It is sealed on all 4 sides, that's how it supposed to be, and you cut away each page with a knife. There are lots of tutorials on how to do this on the internet that are worth watching before attempting to remove the pages.

Pronounced Grain
Excellent watercolour block in terms of cotton content, absorption and flow. It does however dry considerably quicker than Saunders Waterford and the coldpressed grain is closer to the rough grain that I’ve used before. It would be fine for Landscapes with plenty of foliage etc but it’s not so useful for anything requiring a more subtle surface. I haven’t experienced any buckling and it’s quite easy to remove sheets from the block. I wouldn’t however buy it in preference to Saunders Waterford or Daler Rowney Prestige
