I haven't had to use these, and hopefully I never will, but I feel confident that if I do, they will do the job just fine. I pressed them into my own skin just to have a feel, and even that light effort hurt, so I can only imagine when they feel like launched with force into someone's shin or groin!I have them laced into my walking boots. Just having them on me makes me feel a bit safer and less helpless when out and about by myself. The clear colour is actually very noticeable, so I just 'painted' them with a black magic marker. Voila! Hardly noticeable now on my boots. If I can get a hold of another set (a lot of American products are hard to get in the UK, and/or super expensive), I will buy them for another pair of shoes so I don't have to unlace and relace when I want to wear different shoes.I recommend that every woman have at least one pair of these!

Very nice and lightwueight but I feel like you got a weave your shoelace through the holes and through the spikes around the spikes to really get them to fit on your shoe firmly without them rocking side to side or up and down and that also has a little bit of additional padding to your foot cuz if you kick something with these on it will kind of hurt it's something that you should get used to but whatever you're hitting feel that pain a hundred times more

Tested in some altercations. They work well. Quality product.Pros: They do fair damage. Good for lighter distracting blows to the lower legs and especially kneecaps. More powerful strikes are possible to do greater damage. On hard surfaces most of the return energy is distributed and padding under the laces takes care of most of that. They're longer and increase reach so you can get more and better result from quick and otherwise not damaging kicks. Not bad for stand up grappling and can aid in controlling opponent.Cons: Higher kicks get bound in jean and other trouser material. They can do more damage than intended to soft tissues. Because they're longer, they seem to be intended more for striking. The length combined with the narrow base give you less leverage and you have to rely more on pain compliance which doesn't always work for certain types of opponents.On the whole, they're hard and tough and the design make them fairly damaging. Be sure that you need them for that purpose. As a self-defense product they're very good. A strike to a soft area in the lower extremities, typically the groin, will certainly do some damage and cause pain in a much more efficient manner than shoes alone.
