Q: Do you need to use distilled water?

Tap water is routinely used in physician's offices with hydrogen peroxide and is safe. Using bottled water is theoretically safer, and distilled water safer still as these are more sterile sources of water, but the ear is not the nose and this really isn't needed. The amoeba and dangerous infections are only when rinsing the nose, not the ear. The ear routinely fills with water when you swim or shower, the nose does not and is connected to the sinuses and is much deeper with much more mucosa, it's just not the same.

Q: I just received mine today. But no instructions included. How do I use them?

hi judyi just placed warm water and a little peroxide in the bottle. after that you insert the plastic tip in your ear. you really cannot put it in too far because of the design of the tip. i then leaned over my sink and just kept spraying the water into my ear. the force of the water loosens up the wax and then it runs into the sink. i then did the same thing with the other ear. it's definitely a little messy but it works. i now do it monthly for maintenance. good luck:)

My son has lots of wax. He must rinse it out at least once every 2 weeks and tons come out. I have found that warm water works great. I suspect that since your daughter is 8, you are inserting the tube in her ear. If you are doing it, it is hard for you to tell how far the tube has gone in. It has been most effective if you can get the water behind the blockage to rinse it out. Try rinsing with warm water, and repeat every 5 min or so. The warm water can soften the wax allowing it to come out more easily. I'm not a doctor, just offering my experience.

I'm no doctor, but this has been a lifelong problem for me. On numerous occasions I've had an ear COMPLETELY fill with wax! It's rather horrible. The best solution is to see an Ear, Nose, and Throat specialist; they have a device that acts like a vacuum cleaner for the ear. This is expensive, though, so another solution is to pour hydrogen peroxide into your ear (5-10 drops with a dropper). It will fizzle and bubble, feeling and sounding strange. Leave it for 10 minutes, flush it with the Elephant Ear Washer, and repeat as many times as necessary. Bad impactions take 4-5 times for me; few people have the problem as bad as I do, though.
