Easy to use for lamp repair, and a whole lot cheaper than replacing the lamp.

Worked great for its intended purpose. Looked like an identical replacement for the broken part that I was replacing in a lamp. Make sure not to accidentally reverse the positive and negative wires from they are supposed to be. Usually the insulation on the wires have a distinct difference so you dont mix up the two.

First, it fits the typical lamp fitting / threads (US SAE threads). I only found this brass color in a push/push socket (instead of a pull chain). I used the inside of the new one, but the outside cover of the old silver color one. That outside housing is a little thinner than the old one; noticeable, but of limited consequence. The switch itself is solid, and no visible sparks (arcing). These things used to be really low price and common. I guess they are lower volume today, as they are difficult to find and now cost several dollars in the retail realm. So I liked just simply the fact that this was even available. Screws for terminals are normal size to fit typical lamp wire gauges. If you have a lamp that fits your decor or that you really love or value, its nice to be able repair if and when needed, rather than have to replace the whole lamp. And seriously, new lamps are made so cheaply today; or if you opt for some reasonable level of quality, they are wildly overpriced. Just ridiculously overpriced. So I was really glad to be able to save my existing lamp.

This is a standard U.S. lamp socket with a pushable on/off switch. I used it to replace a similar socket on my gooseneck lamp that had a turn switch. I find the push switch easier to use. This switch makes a fairly loud click sound when it’s pushed. It’s definitely not a silent switch.I found installation to be easy. You just need to remember, or better yet to mark, which cord goes to the gold screw and which goes to the silver screw. I used a black marker to mark the cord to the gold screw and used my iPhone to take photos before I disassembled it. Also, on my lamp I had to reuse the original socket shell because of how it screwed into the lamp head. Then I had to use a tin snips tool to cut out a hole on the other side of the reused shell for the switch to pass through. In total, it took me 20 minutes to complete the whole task. I’m an old lady - if I can do it, you can, too. Very happy with the result. Very happy with the price including home delivery.There are YouTube videos that show the whole process (except the snip part). Snips tools (they’re a heavy duty scissors that will cut metal) are handy to have around your home and cost around $15 at Home Depot or maybe here on Amazon. For those reviewers who complained about the cardboard insulation, I’d like to point out that cardboard insulation has been the standard for many years for this type of electrical device. Cardboard is inexpensive and does the job safely. My gooseneck lamp is 40 yrs old and it had cardboard insulation in the original shell.

Perfect for quick repair on an older lamp that needs to be saved.

My wife didn’t want to throw the lamp away because she liked it. The part was quick and easy to replace. Now she’s happy and a great price for the product.
