Carson Dellosa Comprehensive Curriculum of Basic Skills 3rd Grade Workbook, Reading Comprehension, Language Arts, Spelling, Grammar, Math, and Writing Practice, Classroom or Homeschool Curriculum

I recently purchased this “Carson Dellosa Comprehensive Curriculum of Basic Skills 3rd Grade Workbook” for my granddaughter. This 544-page workbook is an excellent resource that covers several key subjects, including reading, writing, grammar, mathematics, science, and geography. Additionally, the spiral binding allows the book to lay flat, making it practical and easy for her to navigate. My granddaughter and daughter-in-law found this workbook to be an excellent educational resource. By ordering this book in the spring, my granddaughter has something to keep her occupied until she starts school in August. I like to keep my granddaughter ahead of her class so that she knows what her curriculum is beforehand. I usually get the book about April; it is nice to know in advance about her next year’s program before everyone. This curriculum book does its job!

These were purchased long ago, didn't know I could review the product! I am not savvy in this type of thing :/ sorry. The ones I had were from American Standard Publishing, I notice when I looked it up, that there is now both American Standard Publishing and School Specialty Publishing workbook materials that look similar and sold somewhat interchangeably. If the same editions are what is being sold now still, with different cover (covers have changed before), I can knowledgeably recommend them. Otherwise, I would still say it's a great bet and worth a try :) Using a few one or two here and there will NOT replace a textbook!!!! However, if you have sufficient variety of workbook material, it can act as a textbook, with the child getting interaction consistently. The ones I had were EXCELLENT for workbook stuff, 7 children of our family Home Educated on these workbooks, partially. Just fyi , It wasn't an extremely scholastically competitive atmosphere, as adults now, they didn't carry 4point gpa, but out of 7, 5 attended college and one is planning on it next year, the youngest finished her first year with a 3.51 gpa which isn't too bad (she's not quite done with her 3rd semester, yet, she didn't quit after 2). I don't like aalll the illustrations and there are a few questions or stories on the whole, I would phrase differently. That applies to almost anything I used from outside sources, and even those I developed myself occasionally!! :) The learning in these is gradual, step by step, there is clarity and variety among the subjects. There is this idea out there, that the best learning is done when a student feels threatened by failure, and I don't think so. I think education can be interesting and approach +- somewhat (not entirely) casual. Not casual desire, but every step of the way not the desperate "challenge" some people think is necessary! Part of learning can be relatively +- comfortable. There is enough struggle / effort as it is in a learning experience, without arranging it on purpose! These helped me help my children be comfortable in their learning process and gain confidence in their ability to grasp concept, and that the world was do-able :) Now, as a person with degenerative disease that affect mental acuity, I had a couple of leftovers I found a year or so ago that I use just to let my brain work. Theoretically, maybe, no guarantee, if I keep a little bit of a toe hold with this type of brain activity, Math and nouns and verbs and so on, without stressing myself too much over it, it could possibly help decrease the speed of overall deterioration. In this situation, I often depend on the answers at the back, to help me reach the conclusions, but the brain is still thinking. Maybe useless idea, but :) I lose nothing by it and it gives me a variety of things to think about along the way!

We homeschool and this book covers everything for grade level. It really helps to keep us on track with what we need to be learning.

Great for my third grader! Even his classroom teacher took his workbook and copied pages to use for the class.

This book came packed with others I ordered, and arrived the least damaged of the two heavier books I received. Despite being packed carelessly by Amazon, it is still usable. Now on to the actual product review. There are both pros and cons as with any purchase. Let's start with some of the Pros. I love the Table of Contents pages, and how each subject is broken down further into categories. It also includes a glossary, index, and teaching tips. The answer key pages are great as well, as they have a snapshot of each page so you don't have to work so hard to find the answers for a specific page. And the best part is that all the pages are perforated for easier extraction. See photos. Cons: Removing some of the perforated pages means removing what's on the reverse side as well. There are some pages I disagree with. For instance, page 15, one of the few vocabulary pages in the reading section (there is a separate section for spelling), assumes the student already knows the words included. Also, it defines words that are spelled the same but can have different meanings, as multi-meaning words, instead of using the proper term, homonyms. But it will use the term homophones to describe different-meaning words that sound the same but are spelled differently. Maybe it's done this way to prevent confusion, but, when testing, the student needs to know the difference. A BIG con is that, although it specifically states there is writing included on the cover, this book does not go over any distictly writing skills. There is NO section dedicated to writing skills. It has only two pages defined under writing in the index; page 6, which is the first doable page of the entire book, and page 60. Page 6 is a basic My Story page, where the student describes facts about their self. Page 60, which is included in the same Reading subject area as page 6, which briefly covers the concept of Who, What, When, Where, and Why. A note, page 60 assumes the student knows the story of Little Red Riding Hood. More Pros: Reading and Reading Comprehension are very comprehension. I love that the Reading Comprehension section covers a lot of different areas of study, but it starts off with a lot of traditionally masculine topics such as dinosaurs and sports. Then it ventures into neutral gender topics like history and science. There isn't anything that targets traditionally feminine readers, so we'll likely stick to history and science, including the dinosaurs. Add the English and Spelling sections to the reading sections, and altogether they take up 75% of all the workpages. This doesn't leave much room for math, but it does cover the basics. It also has a strictly-review page after general math, multiplication and division, and money. If a student needs more help with decimals and fractions, or even order of operations, this book would probably not be enough. The same can be said of any of the math subcategories. Luckily, I already have other math workbooks at home, or can easily write up a few problems.

Excellent Book!!!! It is a well rounded book, has all the subjects; and from what I've seen, the curriculum lessons are almost identical to what is used in the schools, which is one of the reasons I continue to purchase. I've been purchasing these books for about three years now, and I can't stress enough how beneficial this is to the now third grader that uses it. This is a magnificent way to provide activities during the summer without overwhelming them (or taking away from their summer vacation); and gradually practicing for the upcoming year. It not only reinforces what they learned the previous year, it reveals what "potential" issues they may be struggling with; while giving you ample time to assist and prepare them accordingly for the next grade level. Bear in mind, you will not be able to complete all the lessons in the book during the summer session; nonetheless, it's a great tool to use as well during the school year for those in between sessions where they need a little extra help on a subject they didn't quite understand, or in preparation for a test. I highly recommend this book...you can't go wrong for $14! Comprehensive Curriculum of Basic Skills, Grade 3

We had very big imagination for AMAZON when some of our overseas friends teel about Amazon. But our experience is very bad.
