Great find
So far I love this stuff and plan to buy it again. It's worked great for my 6 month old's eczema. It's perfect for right after his bath to lock in moisture since it's very thick and a bit sticky. Just have to rub it between my hands for a few seconds to warm it up or it can be difficult to apply. I prefer to use it at night since it's sticky and has that lanolin smell, but I don't find it offensive at all. Plus my hands have never been softer!

The best for severe dry skin and lips, but the smell is not pleasant
A heavy-duty moisturizer for severely chapped skin. This is a natural product and it smells like where it comes from. Lanolin is produced by sheep to make its wool water-resistant. Only a small amount is needed and it will be sticky at first. I put it on my chapped hands and lips once I'm in bed. It has wonderful emollient and healing properties.

GOOD product - It smells like lanolin and it WORKS!
I bought this over a year ago. Just getting ready to re order. I have been very happy with it. Yes, its thick - After all it is LANOLIN! I put it on my hands and wait a few seconds while it softens. It will NOT get runny like hand lotion. It is NOT hand lotion. Some said it smells bad. Well, it is LANOLIN and it smells like lanolin. That should surprise no one. It comes from the oil of sheep skin/wool. One reviewer said it smelled like sheep. What else would it smell like? My nose doesn't smell it unless I put my hand right up to my nose. If you prefer the scent of wildflowers, I suggest buying some scented lotion maybe with lanolin as an additive. I wash my hands a LOT because my daily routine soils my hands all day long. I like this lanolin BECAUSE it is thick. It doesn't wash off the first time I wash my hands. I can still feel it after washing my hands several times. It helps to keeps my hands soft and prevents drying. I live on the east coast in PA, and the winter air here is VERY drying. I wouldn't use it if I was going through a receiving line shaking hands, but I do "wear" it around the house in the winter time and at night. If you apply it an hour or so before bedtime, most of it will soak in before retiring or you can wear cotton gloves to bed. I have done that if my hands or cuticles were severely dry. And to the reviewer who insisted that anyone who says it doesn't stink is lying - get a life. IT SMELLS LIKE LANOLIN. I don't find it offensive. Garlic smells like garlic. Limberger cheese smells like limberger cheese. Lanolin smells like lanolin. I like this product, it works, and it is priced right. I am happily reordering.

Use this for diaper rash as a barrier.
My daughter was having an extremely bad diaper rash due to a sensitivity in my diet from breastfeeding as we were resolving that we had to wait for the acidity in her poop to go down and something that would allow her bottom to heal from blistering. We needed a good barrier that was natural and healing. This worked better than desitin and Vaseline. We got desitin because we were desperate for something that would help her bottom heel however after reading the ingredients knowing it would be bad ..We were rather mortified that we were putting petroleum products and talc on our baby and they have added fragrance. But we needed a barrier and something that had zinc in it. Zinc is great for healing and there are other products that we can use that have the zinc in it but for barrier that was natural we chose this.. We would use something was thinking it and alternate it with this if needed. And I did not want to use petroleum, or talk or fragrance or some other added ingredients. So we needed something that acted just like Vaseline without being a petroleum byproduct. I was using my nipple cream for a barrier But even that wasn't thick enough for my liking the purple tube is mixed with something so that it is much more appliable to store nipples but is not super thick for diaper cream. This tub was very thick and worked great I used it after we would dry her off with every diaper change until her diaper rash cleared up. It does not have a strong lanilon smell although I love the smell of lanolin. So long story short this product is great It is thick a little bit goes a long way it'll stay on her bottom until it has wiped off between diaper changes. Helps her a lot at night If we're not catching her diaper change right away. This creates a great barrier creates great moisture is lasting for longer than any other product that I've gotten for diaper rash on the shelf. We use this at night with a disposable diaper now for routine care for her bottom. Just remember that this is not cloth diaper safe this will waterproof any cloth that it is applied to. So it is great as a diaper cream and great if you're using it with a disposable diaper but this is not something that you use for cloth diapering mamas unless you are trying to waterproof something it will ruin the absorbency. This also works as a nipple cream You just need to allow it to get warm between your fingers before applying It is safe for ingestion for infants. It's also great as a lip balm and other chapped areas..

Extremely Effective and Affordable
Extremely effective at moisturizing severely dry, cracked heels, as well as any other bodily areas which require moisturizing. I have tried virtually every type of moisturizer there is on the market for severely dry and cracked heels, and they all worked to varying degrees. However, this pure lanolin is by far the most effective and much more affordable. All the other moisturizers containing expensive or exotic oils or things like urea, etc. simply are not as effective as this product. Look, it is very affordable here on amazon, so I suggest giving it a try.

Made me human again
This stuff is an unbelievable miracle!! Maybe I just think that because, apparently when I walk, my toes bend downward as if they're trying to grip the floor. Since I've been walking for nearly 60 years now, a result of this is that all of my toes had hard, deep calloused skin worse than my heels or that spot on your big toe on which you stand. I can't even begin to add up things I've tried or the $ spent over time trying to fix the hard skin: lotions, essential oils, masks, foot soaks, skin grating items and even razor blades. I finally just accepted it. One day, I saw an article about white, flaky and itchy dry skin on your legs in winter and winters here are brutal most days. I live in Nebraska and if we don't like whatever weather we're having on any particular day, all we have to do is wait 5 minutes. The article recommended lanolin based lotions. I researched what lanolin is and bought this. Granted, it doesn't smell the best, but it's not too bad. It's better than a strong "old lady perfume" or a chemical or medicinal scent. Anyway, I got my order and just wiped the seal from inside the cap across the tips of my toes. Unbelievable. They had actually turned pink in color, unlike the yellowish-white they had been for years as if the lanolin penetrated all of my thick, dead and dry skin until my toes turned into human ones. Hope this makes sense because I'm still giddy from how amazed I am that it works so well and so fast. Now I use it all over myself. I've NEVER been this soft of a human ever before in my entire life. Maybe at birth. Maybe.

Cost effective and extremely hydrating
Yes you can buy lanolin that is purified of all color and scent. It is much more expensive and if the scent bothers you I recommend buying the more expensive kind which is about 4 to 5 times this price per ounce. It’s lanolin….so it’s going to smell a bit like lanolin. The smell doesn’t bother me enough that I’d pay the ridiculous prices of purified lanolin. I’m usually only using a pea sized amount and the smell doesn’t linger so I feel it’s a waste of money to buy the scent-less kind. The bottle shows the color of the product (so nobody should expect purified lanolin which is white) and at this price point I don’t understand why people would expect it to smell like anything other than what it is…lanolin smells a bit like sheep. If you don’t like the smell…fork over the extra cash and stop complaining. I live in the Midwest. It gets cold. I mean REALLY cold. We are all walking around with dry skin everywhere because the cold rips the moisture out of the air for about 6 months out of the year. I have to use incredibly heavy moisturizing ingredients. Even then….its still hard to keep skin moisturized. I use this in cold weather. I do my skincare routine and get as much moisture into my skin as possible prior to applying this. I mix this with zinc oxide ointment and apply it to my face/hands and anywhere else that needs protecting. This helps lock in moisture and form a barrier that prevents water loss (TEWL) trans epidermal water loss. Lanolin and zinc oxide are some of the heaviest moisture trapping ingredients available that don’t clog pores. This also works amazing as a lip balm BUT you want to put moisture in your skin prior to application. Don’t just rub this on dry skin and expect it to moisturize. This forms a barrier that prevents water loss. It doesn’t add moisture to the skin underneath (although it does trap any moisture that was already there). I recommend wetting the skin, using something moisturizing that absorbs into the skin and then applying this on top. One note of caution: when the temperature gets real (and I mean REAL like subzero temps) lanolin gets hard, like wax. Trying to use it as a lip balm in subzero temps it will feel like you’ve spread melted beeswax all over your lips and allowed it to harden. This is why I mix it with zinc oxide or another barrier forming substance. It helps get a thinner layer that doesn’t get hard in extreme weather. The amount of lanolin you get here is enough to last for about 2 years of daily usage on face and hands (during cold seasons). You can also use this to lanolize wool clothing. If you’re doing that I recommend a 1% concentration. Anything more will simply make your garment oily and gross feeling. This is an extremely versatile product that can be used on anything from rashes to chapped lips and it’s an essential item in my home. I used it a lot while raising my daughter. It was the ONLY thing that would immediately help with extreme diaper rashes. I mean within minutes you go from screaming baby with fire engine bottom to happy baby who allows you to change their diaper and doesn’t fuss because they’re in so much discomfort. It can be safely used on any part of the body. Its chemical composition is similar to concentrated human sebum (the natural oil on human skin). It’s a miracle in a bottle. I use a q tip to dig into the container despite its antimicrobial properties. This is a large container. It lasts forever and it doesn’t feel hygienic to dip my fingers in something that’s going to last for 2 years. Highly recommend this product. If you are squeamish about scents then you’ll need to buy the purified kind. I find it feels a bit different than this “less purified” kind. It’s thicker but still works. If you’re looking for a cheaper alternative to purified lanolin this brand is great.
