Flight simulator x detailed review
I have just baught the game off amazon and would like to help the future buyers know what they are getting. you may have viewed the video (on this page of flight simulator x) and be amazed by the quality of the sim. dont be fooled by other peoples reviews on here saying "we dont all have a super computer like bill gates" and letting you down thinking you cant run it. i have installed it on both of my pc's.1st pc has 2.8ghz intel duel core, 1gb ram, 300gb hdd, and a 512mb graphics card. i can run the game on ultra high settings with no glitches or pauses working with no problems this is full on graphics, detail, scenery, weather etc. my other pc is intel 2.6ghz, 1gb ram, 256mb graphics card and 2x80gb hdd. on the 2nd pc i can run the sim on medium high settings (which is about 3/4's of the full settings on graphics, detail, scenery, weather etc) and runs with no glitches or pauses... i cant say i have tryed the settings higher yet but it may handel a little more. the system spec's on the game case say; at least windows xp or vista, 1ghz or higher, 15gb hdd, 32mb graphics card... i am sure with the lowest spec's even with lowest graphic settings the game will pause and have glitches... very demanding on graphics, BUT if you have any pc with (in my mind) atleast 1.8ghz, windows xp, 256/512mb ram, 64/128mb graphics card you will see a good view from the game. if you have the spec or higher than my 1st pc then definatly buy this... you wont be dissapointed. i hope i have helped people with any questions about this, and be warned... you WILL NEED A DVD ROM!!! wont work with a normal cd-rom. have fun. edd

Games
have been looking for a good flight sim game for some time saw this one read a few reviews & decided this was the one for me. in the game there are so many levels to choose from which makes it more challingeing & you do really think you`re flying theese craft. i`m running the game on a dell inspiron 530s dektop with a nvidia gt 520 g card everything works fine the only problem i`ve found is when flying the helicoptor if you pull back on the stick too hard it goes into a spin which is uncontrolable & i had to close the program & refly that level apart from that the game is brilliant & such a good price

Great Fun and Tutorials
This is a great game and seems so realistic at times. The tutorials will get you on track and then you can try your hand at more sophisticated levels. There is only one negative issue and that concerns the color display which flicks on to a different setting when you turn on the program. It is only a minor issue and readjusts itself when you turn off, but I am surprised this hasn't been addressed. Other than that, good value and hours of fun.

It's good but.......
Having spent many years using FS9, which over time has has had many addons to improve the experience, thought it was about time to try FSX out. There's certainly an improvement in the default scenery, but as others have said you do need a decent spec PC to run it if you want to get the best out of it. I've got an I5 3GZ processor, and I can't run it anywhere near maxed out. If you start adding extras, you need to adjust the settings accordingly. I've added ORBX England scenery, which is beautiful to look at, but it does hit the framerate. FSX is also prone to crashes at unexpected times, especially when cycling through the views. Shame really, it could have been that little bit better. I'll still use it, but I think most of my flying will still be in FS9. Delivery from the seller was quick.

Great when it works properly
This is a Great program, theres no getting away from that. Its spawned a whole community of flying enthusiasts , whether they be armchair pilots or real ones brushing up on their skills. The detail is superlative with the correct add-ons. The program runs on most modern computers with ease and is very adjustable to get a good mix of frame rate, (essential for an accurate flight-model) and level of detail - to make it look good. However I have not given it 5 stars because it does have some very annoying faults.Primarily my main gripe is the consistency of it crashing - not the plane crashing but the program! One of the main things I wanted to do with this program was create video clips to show off to the world my erm.... "flying prowess" (Said with tongue firmly in cheek!). -But can I get it to play the clips once I`ve recorded them? -can I b****ry....Every time I try to play back a clip, ---CRRRAAAAASSSHHH! -down it goes again. In fact I am sure this thing is intelligent , because it ALWAYS seems to crash , just when I achieve something good.e.g. - The first time I landed a 747 on high realism settings, -I got the plane lined up perfectly with the runway, correct speed , approach, Flap settings -even remembered to put my landing gear down! I got Just to the end of the runway and what happened? - Yup! you`ve guessed it - a dirty great error message and "Flight Simulator X is Not Responding...So Frustrating!!! I fear that FSX may be losing its edge in the simulator stakes actually because I`ve also bought "X-planes 10" and to date ,it has not crashed once on me. The scenery especially and almost everything else is more detailed and believable. Its a little more expensive but is a much better program.Edit:- I`ve taken another star off this for a couple of reasons.1. the Crashing of the program is becoming more and more prevelant - the program is fast becoming unusable..its NOT my system. - everything else works perfectly - even Flight Simulator 2004 which has not crashed a single time.its not the specs either - quad core , corei5 @ 3GHz , 8GB DDR3 fast RAM..After ringing support I was told that the program was no longer supported as Microsoft laid off the whole flight simulator team.Well that just does not wear with me - the program is still being sold by Microsoft so it should still be supported by them - that's like selling a brand new car and saying , if it breaks down that's just tough!I`ve even tried dropping the detail levels to a bare minimum. - STILL it crashes,I re-installed it and what a fiasco THAT was... it would not re-authenticate. (apparently you only get ONE chance to authenticate with a Microsoft ID. - if you need to repair the installation or re-install , you need a NEW I.D.)So don`t try re-installing unless you absolutely have to.its irrelevant anyway because it did not cure it.Its particularly annoying because its older sibling FS2004 has been running like a dream - its a much more stable program, if you have the choice between the two , get the older version.
