Neve 1073DPX Dual Microphone Preamplifier / EQ

Legendary sound for your studio
If you don't know what this is, it's not for you. Neve 1073 mic pre and Neve EQ w/ two channels of each. Are your existing mic pre's good enough to record a hit song? Yes. This is "next level" gear that you don't need but will love. So much of audio/studio stuff is about getting slightly more fidelity or grit. You can spend many thousands of dollars to make, say, a 5% difference in the sound. Is it crazy to chase that small of a difference? Probably. But, this is gear that will help you do that. So, you probably don't NEED this 1073DPX but you will not regret buying it!

Fantastic sound, terrible PSU / grounding issues
This is a really great pre and the EQ is super useful. However, AMS has cut corners and used a cheap power supply that is a magnet for radio interference and grounding noise.

It's the real deal!
Ask yourself a question. Why are so many companies making 1073 clones? Almost every signal processing software manufacturer also makes some form of a 1073 including Waves (Scheps 73), Slate Digital (FG-73) and UAD. The reason there are so many copies of the Neve 1073 is that it is on nearly every important recording from the Beatles to the Beach Boys and across music genres from rock to blues and jazz. It isn’t a magic bullet that will fix everything wrong with your recordings. There is no such thing. The Neve 1073 DPX is the most affordable (when compared to the original hardware and other versions, including 500 series versions) while maintaining that British, high level authentic Neve console sound. Modern conveniences such as inputs in front and back, built in EQ and the ability to push/pull to get console overdrive all make this the perfect rendering of a classic. Save your money and skip past the lesser mic preamps and get this piece. It’s the real thing.
