The Active Jac has been a favorite on American ranches, farms, and factory floors since its release in the '70s. This kids' cold-weather versiost like n is made of durable cotton duck that looks just like the adult version but feels broken-in from the start. The flannel lining ensures kids stay warm whether they're running around the park or the orchard. Review: Fits true to size, high quality, solid purchase - SIZING: This is the second of this exact jacket that I have purchased for my son. I purchased the first one, size 6/XS, when he was 6 years old and in the first grade. It first great all through first and second grade. Now, the arms are getting a little short and it is getting snug through the shoulders. He is in third grade and 8 years and 10 months old, and has always been smack in the middle of the height and weight charts at around 50th percentile for weight and 60th for height. This newest jacket, size Small (7/8) fits him perfectly with some room to grow. He wears size 8 jeans and youth size Medium (8/10) t-shirts. These Carhartt jackets have very functional cuffs at the sleeves that serve to both keep the wind out and keep the sleeves from falling over the hands when the jacket is a little too big. They are generously sized, especially in the length, so I wouldn't size up unless your child is on the cusp of the next size, anyway. My 4 year old daughter has inherited this size 6 (XS) jacket and it fits her well with room to grow. She has always been 99th percentile or higher on both height and weight growth charts, and wear size 6/7 girls clothing, so I was happy to see that this jacket in size 6 will last her a while. STYLE CHANGES, QUALITY: I purchased both of our jackets from desertcart, same style, and the quality of the jacket we purchased last week was just as good as the one we purchased two years ago. Carhartt has added a sewn in tag for writing your child's name and phone number on the inside of the jacket at the left pocket. That is the only change I have noted. These jackets take several wearing and a couple of washes to break in, and are a little stiff until they are broken in, but I will continue to buy them because the quality cannot be beat and my son loves them. We live in Alabama but our past two winters have been unusually cold with lots of ice and some snow. He has stayed warm in this jacket. We also camp often, and he stays dry in this jacket even when there is a steady rain. It feels damp on the outside, but the inside is warm and dry. The first jacket we purchased has been worn hard through two years of use, many campouts and it was my son's only jacket for that entire time and it has not deteroriated in any way. Review: Durable jacket perfect for rough boys! - We always buy carhartt jackets for our 14 year old son. He is so hard on all clothing, especially coats, and this is the only brand we have found that not only makes it through the winter with him, but that he can wear more than one winter. His last one lasted 3 years and was passed on to his younger brother when we bought this one. He loves the way it fits, and that he can still move freely while wearing it. He usually doesn't like coats because they tend to be bulky and restrict movement. This one he doesn't mind wearing outside to play in, and it keeps him warm and dry the whole time he is out. I love the fact that it can be washed often and still hold up well. These things never wear out! It is a jacket I know is well worth the money because his younger brothers will all get the chance to wear it too. And carhartts never seem to go out of style either. They are durable, well made, and perfect for rough and tumble boys like mine.

Perfect Carhartt, for Big Boys (or Small Women)
I read lots of reviews before buying this because I was concerned about size. I am a very small female (4'9"/~87 lbs), and wear girls' size 10, or 12 slim jeans. Shirts and jackets are a harder fit, because I have arm muscles and also a women's chest. I was really scared to buy a boys' 14-16 size, as I've tried on shirts of that size and I was swimming. In this case, it was exactly the right size. As other reviewers have said, the arms are not excessively long. They fit me exactly to wrist (for sizing reference: although I am very short, I am kind of built like a taller person, with longer legs and arms than you would expect). The waistband hits around my hips, which will allow it to ride up when I am doing physical work while still keeping me warm and not grabbing the interior layers and making them raise up, too, because it is not too tight). And there is room within the sleeves and trunk for multiple layers, even the quantity of layers I usually wear in cool or cold weather, without the jacket bunching and making the wearer look like a marshmallow. If you or your child really is a 14 or 16 I would guess this would be tight and prohibitive of wearing layers underneath.

Durable and very warm! Great investment!
We are an active duty military family that recently moved from Florida to North Texas. We were extremely unprepared for cold winters, and when temperatures dropped into the 20’s, the stores quickly sold out of winter clothes. Our son is huge for a three year old so I ordered the XX small (4/5) carhartt so that he would have a jacket durable and warm enough for the next several years. It is very large on him, but not so big that the sleeves can’t be pulled up for his hands to fit. He absolutely LOVES it! My husband has owned his own Carhartt jacket for over five years, so we trust the jacket will stand up to our sons roughhousing! I would highly recommend this product because of the durability and quality.

It is a nice warm jacket
My son is 2 and will be turning 3 in a month in a half. I purchased a 3T at first thinking I can just use a little bigger and get away with having to buy another jacket next year. The arms were a little long and wish I could have kept it but bunching it up on his arm really did not go well with him and how he likes to play. Also the hoodie part was way to big. I had to return and size down. The 2T fits him better the arms and hoodie fit perfect and still leaves a little room fro him to grow. This is warm and a nice jacket. My son still perfers his older jacket from last year over this, but sure when he gets used to using it he will enjoy it as well.

My review of carhartt youth coat
I bought this coat in youth small for my 4 year old son. He is a big for his age, after reading reviews of others purchases, regarding size, I chose not to follow the sizing chart, and buy him the small. So glad I did, it was a perfect, even has room to grow. As always, a quality product from Carhartt. Its durable, warm, and just like daddy's. He loves it!

I bought 2 of these for my 2 nephews that are 6days apart for Christmas. They are both farm families, and these are prefect for going out to the barn, and now they match their dads! So great for the price.

So I decided to size up for my son but it was too big for him, he’s normally a size 12 but I thought layers might make it fit, so order the size you normally wear. Other than that the jacket is perfect! Good quality and feels warm.
