Bought this cable to improve the access speed of photos stored on a 4TB external HDD. Though my laptop has an SS port, access had been painfully slow with the USB 3 cable that was included with the HDD, rendering the HDD unusable for anything but mere backup. Access speed improved noticeably after connecting through my laptop's USB-C port and this USB-C cable, enabling me to access photos on the external HDD both for review and for editing purposes. Size of cable ordered (1ft) proved ideal for me personally.

It works fine for my external storage, and I haven’t had any issues. As for transfer speed, I can't really notice the difference between a few milliseconds or even a second or two.
