does it take batteries?

Hello Bruce, thanks for your interest in this awesome kit. There are no batteries necessary as the vehicles are moved around manually.

Once the mobil unit is built, will it stay together well enough to be played with by a 6-year-old & a 3-year-old?

I have had mine built-up since Christmas and my son who is 7 still plays with it almost every day and it is still in one piece. So I would say yes for the 6 yr old. Not sure about the 3 yr old.

Is the delivery timely?

Yes, i received in time for Christmas gifts...

Hi there! There is no risk from BPA in LEGO® products. The majority of LEGO elements are made from ABS plastic (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene), a high-quality plastic that meets their extensive list of safety and quality specifications. The colors and materials in ABS plastic do not rub off or leach and, in fact, meet the same material standards for safety that are required of plastic eating utensils. For the production of our bricks, we only use raw materials where we’re in complete control of the chemical composition. We monitor the latest research and use published scientific data to ensure that our materials are safe. We also continuously test our materials to ensure that our toys don’t expose children to any harmful substances. Kind regards, Emily LEGO® Customer Service
