Are you able to comfortably sleep on your side with this product?

No,this is a great item but you will sleep on your back in comfort. When I broke my ankle this I cold not sleep in any position. I highly recommend this product. PS look into a knee scooter it is a great item for transportation.

Would this work for a child who is 4 ft 8 inches?

I don't think so. I am 5'5" and could pull it right up to my thigh and comfortably rest my leg in the channel. I envision a child's thigh as shorter and having their hips off the couch or bed in order to rest their leg in the channel.It is returnable, but would be difficult to return as it arrives completely flat in plastic--once opened it rises.

I am about the have tendon surgery on my ankle! i have been trying to gather all medical supplies that i think i will need. has anyone had this type?
