What is the diameter of the center, before the plate slopes up?

The plate says it is 9-1/4 inches. Unfortunately you only get about 6" of flat usable surface. I wish I would have thought to ask your question before purchasing. About 3" of the plate is take sloping up in unusable space.

Are the plates hot to the touch when you cook in the microwave?

Yes they are hot to the touch. We put a hotpad under it so we can remove the plate from the microwave without burning fingers.

We need to know if oven safe, you need to find out please, and answer the question

Lys dinnerware is not meant to be put in the oven. On the web site, it states they can withstand a thermal shock of up to 265*F. So you probably could warm food on them in a 200* oven. Duralex sells baking dishes for the oven.... similar to Pyrex. I have only placed by Lys dishes and bowls in the microwave and suggest you only do that too.

Are your small square bowls oven safe? Baking custard or individual tart?

No, they are not oven safe. This is not Pyrex.
