We would recommend the short hair version with the ORANGE top. This version has regular spaced combs to remove any matt’s and tangled to fluff up a Standards coat.

The most suitable tool for a Coton de Tuléar, is the short hair model of our product. This model has closely spaced, short length combs which are most appropriate for Coton de Tuléar, given they are smaller sized dogs. They have a medium fluffy coat, with is cotton like and hair like rather than fur. While the breed does not shed as much as others, matted hair is common and should be removed by regular grooming. The short hair model of our products, works well to groom through the coat and untangle matts comfortably. This product has a series of combs, which progressively become finer, to comfortably groom through. Note that the long hair model, would not be best suited, given that is comprises more coarse and long combs, which are designed for very thick coats, which larger animals tend to have. I can't figure out what size to get. my german shepherd has long hair and my fingers can't be seen in the fur but it says use short for gsd??

Hello Sam. Thank you for your question. For German Shepherd Dogs (GSDs), we would always recommend folks buy the Orange topped short hair model of our product. The reason is that GSDs do not have hair which is so long that it can tangle into knots, which is what the Yellow topped long hair model of our current products is designed for; to detangle hair as well as deshed. There are some exceptions, such as the Shiloh Shepherd. Sometimes this GSD family breed can have very long hair, where the large wide comb of the Yellow tool is helpful to detangle. The safest answer to give that is best for all is choose the Orange topped tool. But please feel free to reach out to us.
