Great dimmer for boat interior lights
The media could not be loaded. I bought this little dimmer to use on my pontoon boat interior lighting project. For my project, instead of LED strips I used single LED marker lights like what are used on trucks and trailers. I installed 6 of them around the inside of the boat. This dimmer works very well with them to give me a wide range of brightness from full on to almost imperceivable if I want it that low. The max current handling capability for the dimmer is 4.8 amps. These LED marker lights don’t even draw a full amp so there’s no danger here at all.The dimmer works by being placed in series with the circuit’s ground side. The instructions don’t say that but as an electrician I know what’s going on inside based on how it is wired up. Well, I didn’t want a hot wire that wasn’t switched also, so in my video you will see that I wired it up so that I push a button to turn on power to the hot leg of the circuit, and then use the dimmer on the ground side to control the brightness. This is not necessary to turn power off because the dimmer does have a positive click to break the circuit. But it leaves the hot leg on all the time and I’d rather break that as well. Also you will see that I placed the dimmer knob and buttons in a switch panel I installed that normally has 12v sockets or USB ports in these locations. If you want to do that, just buy some 30mm blank plugs for these locations and then drill out a 19mm (3/4”) hole in them to hold the switches. It’s tight and kind of hard to install using screwdrivers up inside the plug to work on tightening the nut holding the switch in, but it can be done.

Pricey but nice.
Good features:Two knobs included, one each silver and black. Wire lead quality is good, adequate length and with insulation that feels like silicone. Pictorial wiring instructions easy to follow, (schematic style should also be include for us old electricians and others who prefer schematics.)Knob turns smoothly and easily (if you don't push it on the splined shaft too far when mounted through a thicker panel). LED ramps up smoothly from dim to full brightness. (Note that there may be a threshold voltage where the knob moves a bit before the LED turns on dim - this is a function of the LED rather than the dimmer.)It comes in a presentation grade little box with magnetic closure. Save the packaging frills and reduce the price 20% or so. In the interest of full disclosure, if I needed another, I'd buy it again .

Great LED dimmer
The media could not be loaded. Looking to convert a 1968 dashboard to LEDs, but all the reviews of these conversations say you loose dimming because the LEDs use less Wattage and LED dimmers reduce Wattage and incandescent dimmers reduce voltage. Tested this with some T10 dash bulbs and it works great.

Does not work.
After confirming the dimmer is correctly connected, my led light lost 80% of it’s brightness upon being turned on and dimmed the last 20%. The light is no longer bright at all. This is not acceptable.

Nice solid quality dimmer.
Nice little dimmer. Quality feeling and works well, even dimming some LED non-dimmable bulbs I've tried.

Works great, nice quality and aesthetics
Very compact and nice quality. Worked great with a 30W 12v LED light

Works ok, but cheaply constructed and over priced.
Seems to work ok, but they are pretty cheaply made, especially for $24.99...so I would say they are overpriced. I ordered three of these, and the first one I installed broke immediately after installation. In order to actually mount the dimmer behind a surface, you have to take the decorative knob off to fit it through the hole you drill. The knobs just pull off and the stem (that is the actual dimmer control) is all plastic, including the the threaded portion that you attach to. Once I got it mounted and locked in place with the retaining nut, I went to put the knob back on the stem. Due to the force required to push the knob back on, the stem just broke loose from the plastic threads. If that part were metal or stronger some how, or the knob didn't require as much force, it would probably have been ok. I think the pressure of trying to install the knob back on the stem forced it to fail at the joint where the threaded portion is held on by the nut. The dimmer still worked, but the threads were broken off, leaving the dimmer unit now unattached, and no real way to reattach it.Fortunately I had bought extras, so I was able to just use another one, and this time I didn't bother trying to put the decorative knob back on for fear of the second one breaking.
