Q: What size is the mirror? Is there also a mirror on the backside that is not magnified?

The inside diameter of the mirror is 5 3/4 inches. The stand is 7 1/2 inches at the widest point. The height from the base of the stand to the top of the mirror is 9 inches. The mirror on the backside is a regular mirror that is not magnified. I really like the mirror.... I have three. One at home, one in my suitcase and one at a place we visit often, out of state.

Q: Are there two sides, and if so is one side magnified and the other not magnified?

Yes. One side is regular (not magnified) and the other is magnified 12 times for a very up close view. It's a great mirror!

Q: where is this manufactured?

The mirror may have been manufactured in Canada back in 2015 when the others submitted their answers but it is now made in China, unfortunately.

Q: is this mirror battery controlled?

No, no battery and not lighted. I am not sure where the "Tall" part came from either. The Product Dimensions: ? well, this is what is what it says, 8.5 x 6 x 15 inches. This is wrong, it is only 9 inched tall from the bottom of the stand to the top of the mirror. It is a very good mirror, but it is not as it is described. Hope that helps.
