Don’t waste your money.
BOO!! The handle has the grain running PERPENDICULAR to the axe head instead of parallel. The first time it takes a good hit it will crack. Everyone knows that. Apparently it no longer matters to Link Handles. And, no wedges were sent with it. Sure, I can cut one, but who has EVER bought a handle without a wedge coming with it!?

Horrible handle. I bought the 36" model for a restoration double bit Kelley Perfect. Handle is awful. Grain is perpendicular, zero swell at the butt of the handle, and the kerf is off center. The only decent thing about it was that it came waxed, the way I ordered. Not shellaced or lacquered.

Great Handle
I ordered two. Both have good wood. I have put many, many handles on axes and Pulaski's over the last 45 years or so and these two are good. Can't complain. Comes with a wood wedge. Metal wedge is not included. Okay for me because I keep them on hand.

Hickory handle
Like others on these reviews, I like the "good" steel found in most of the older tools and also find deals for tools with missing handles. Bought this handle for a pole-ax. It arrived today well packaged. The handle is made well and the piece of wood is long grained and clear. Grain runs the entire length of the handle and no blemishes. I'd could not have received a better quality piece of wood. Not sure what it is coated with but there is some type of sealer lightly applied. The wood is much lighter than the photo but not a concern. I have not fitted the handle to the tool yet but I've done enough handle replacements to know what to expect. I use my bench grinder to remove excess material and although many of you already know the trick, I'll mention it anyway. To seat the head, do not pound or hammer on the tool. Instead, simply hold the tool upright (vertically) so that the tool head is up and the handle is down. Lift the tool straight up about 2 feet and bring it down quickly onto a hard surface (a concrete driveway works great). Momentum will seat the head to the handle. I usually have to repeat the steps 4 or 5 time to fully set the tool to the handle. Once the tool head is where you want it, insert the wedge(s). This handle comes with a full width wood wedge.

Item labeled wrong!
Ordered a double bit axe handle, received a single bit axe handle and labeled as a double.

Well made, good product
Haven't installed yet, but it's made from straight grained wood, no knots and straight.

Exceeded my expectation
From order to deliver - it took 7 days to ship from the US to NZ. I was a bit worried after looking at some of the negative feedback, but when it arrived, the grain alignment was excellent, it came un-treated - so a light sand to get rid of the sticker gum and its ready to oil.I'd buy another without question.
