Luis Ayala This field manual describes the operations and tactics of Soviet general purpose ground forces. The content is based on Soviet writings and other open source literature. These are tried and true tactics that were also seen in Afghanistan and Syria. Russian ground forces on the border with Ukraine will modify them slightly to take advantage of the "Little Green Men" as seen in Crimea, but otherwise, they will probably stick to many of these tactics. If it works, don't change it. A word of advice to Russian soldiers attempting to cross No-Man's Land on motorcycle. When a First Person View (FPV) drone is closing in on you, there is the " 3-second rule ". If you don't react in 3 to 5 seconds, you don't stand a chance. I recommend you keep the engine running and go to full throttle. Start snaking, making sharp turns of 15-30 degrees. The sharper the maneuver, the better. The FPV has a narrow field of view and will fly past you. Hopefully, the FPV will have trouble reengaging you. Also, don't tell your pal. If he goes slow and doesn't take evasive action, you may be able to get away. You don't have to outrun the FPV, you just gotta outrun the other guy. Review: Interesting book - As a former Threat Officer I had my reference copy of this series. I could not find my copy of this one after a couple of moves so its in a box somewhere. I sure I have my copy in storage but I wanted a backup copy. Review: An interesting book spoiled by the reproduction process. - Whilst the content is interesting, the book seems to have been reduced in size from the original. As a result the print is bordering on the difficult to read and the quality of some of the diagrams has suffered as a result.
