It should with the media mod. It works with the Hero 9 with the media mod.

Is the input compatible (i.e. will it be recognized as an audio input) with the macbook pro? i have had issues with some microphones in the past.

YES, but you need to buy an adapter for it. If the laptop has one port, it will be a 4 POLE port or four contact points since it combines power, left and right audio and mic in. SO... in order to get it to work you need to buy an adapter for it, "Headsets Splitter Adapter" OTHERWISE, this will get treated as an aux out/headphone. THOUGH, given the poling on those 4-poles means the audio is going to be mono, so you might have to mess around with gain and other features like that since it might be quieter. BUT YOU CAN get it to work. "USB C Microphone Adapter" this is for the Macbook Pros or modern cellphones that ONLY have USB C ports and not a 3.5mm Jack. I don't know if this version has stereo mic input. BUT that's easy to test in audacity since it will spit two channels out if it supports stereo on that input.

What’s the best Windscreen for this mic?

It comes with a windscreen, although it’s not great for windy outdoor conditions. You can try a mic furry for lapel mics; there isn’t a dedicated model however.
