Has anyone run one of these for long periods at 2 Ohms impedance? Are there any reliability issues with that?

Yes we have experience using these into 2 ohm loads with no problem. Would this be full range or just subwoofer application?

How load are the fans?

This dude does not take a lot away from the power supply. The fans don't run a lot because of the way the monster is built. When they do they whisper a cool breeze. Buy it. You'll love it. You'll need ear plugs in a smaller space!
