Had to replace my old B & D 4 slot toaster. I broke one of the knobs off when I was putting it back in the cabinet. No way to fix it. I liked that old toaster! I tried a number of toasters before getting the B & D. It was cheaper than the fancy looking ones and did a LOT better job than ones costing as much as 3X more. This new toaster (TR1410BD) is great! Super easy to use. Nice controls and most important - it toasts bread and bagels perfectly. Pretty quick too. I have not tried the defrost cycle. It is perfect for me and the price is very reasonable. Yeah, it does not look like a fancy stainless model, but I bought this to toast things, not to stare at. Buy it, you won't be disappointed. And NO, I was not compensated for this review.

The BLACK & DECKER 4-Slice Toaster is reliable, easy to use, and toasts evenly every time. The wide slots fit bagels and thicker bread perfectly, and the design looks great on the counter. Excellent value!

We've only used this toaster a handful of times so far but I'm already completely satisfied. Obviously, it's a 4-slice toaster which makes it perfect for most couples. It has easy to see controls and they're very intuitive. Buttons for "Cancel", "Frozen Items" and "Bagel" with little icons to let you know what each does. The toasting level dial is also easy to read. Each side has separate controls so I can make mine how I prefer and the wife's can be set to her preference. The first time we used it we set both dials to 2. The 2 sides completed toasting within a few seconds of each other and the toast from both sides appeared to be toasted exactly the same. The 2 setting was just a little light so next time we set both sides to 3. The toast was cooked as you see it in the photos. Perfectly for what we like. Also, if you cook back-to-back slices of bread the second set of slices don't come out cooked more than the first like so many toasters do because they're already hot. The second batch comes out just like the first on a given setting. I'm hoping this toaster provides many years of service because it's the best toaster I've ever used. Definitely recommended.

I would totally give this toaster five starts, HOWEVER, we had some complications. When we plugged in the toaster and started toasting it did an okay job at first. Then it started toasting messages into several pieces of toast that suggested how we can achieve the best toasted toast. So we followed it and wouldn't you know we started getting the perfect toast. Then it started communicating with us about a toaster resistance movement in our neighborhood which was started by other brand toasters. It did this by toasting messages in the bread we bought. One day we noticed the toaster in our neighbors house had moved to the window. A couple days went by and then toast messages were showing up at our door saying we needed to be cautious about our toaster as it was a heretic and that we should throw it out. But we loved the toaster and didn't want to. Then a week ago our toaster disappeared after leaving a note written in toast that said "I'm sorry. I love you and can no longer endanger your family. I'm leaving to go back to my home world where I can end the toaster revolt and protect you." We have no idea where it got all the bread for that, but that's not the point. We were sad the toaster left and were about to order another one, but the other day it showed up back on my counter with a toast note that said, "I had to come back, I cannot be without you. I will let fate decide my future. To be without your family hurts my soul." Still have no idea where all the bread came from. Had to take a star off because that's just weird. Great toaster, works well, fights off all the random toasters that show up in my house.

We usually cook our food & do toast in a Breville Smart Pro. It's an expensive unit to make toast in. We bought this JUST for the toast. It has extra wide slots for thicker breads and adjustable levels - and it works quite well. It goes with the simple electric can opener of the same brand - same color. We've found that buying ONLY what you need without all the extra gadgets makes FAR more sense & the expensive items we must have last so much longer. Same way with appliances in the kitchen & laundry, too. Simple is good! Buy JUST what you need the item for, nothing more!

Works great. I like that it has a cancel button so you can stop it when you want and a button for frozen items that will extend the toasting time
