Awfully awesome!
If you are not in right mindset, don't read it. This book talks about depression and its extreme level. Very disturbing yet very intriguing if you empathize. But don't read it if you are already disturbed.

Impactful short story
A short story from the late 19th century about a woman with a growing psychosis and her husband, a busy physician, who is convinced that there is nothing wrong with his wife; all she needs is rest. Short but amazingly graphic.

Bad paper and book jacket design quality
Its as thin as a pamphlet. I expected it to have a smaller page size, more girth, and better paper quality. Basically I thought it was the pneguin classics book jacket. Too bad, not recommend.

Double Printed??? Too expensive
The main content/story of the story is printed twice to perhaps increase the volume of the book? Its not worth the amount its listed for.

Eerie read
Reread Review : Rating: 5 This is a novella set in the 1800s about a woman who is suffering from post-depression/anxiety. She is taken to a mansion for 3 months as a treatment for her illness. She is accompanied by her husband(who is a physician) and her sister-in-law, who are her caretakers. She is not allowed to have any recreational activities to get her mind off of things, because that was the treatment back then. As the story progresses, she becomes obsessed with the wallpaper in her bedroom and we slowly see her descent into madness. This is my second time reading this story. It was a bit difficult for me to read the story the first time because I was not used to this writing style and missed a lot of things discussed in it. But this time, I could sense the creepiness from page 1. I resonated with the things Mrs. Gilman discusses, be it the nervous breakdown, a satire on the society standards back then(which was very subtle but very impactful at the same time). I said this before when I read it the first time, this book proves that we don't need pages and pages of creepy descriptions and sudden jump scares to make a good horror novel. I was so creeped out the entire read, I stopped reading and checked my surroundings SEVERAL times in this 16 paged short story!! And that ending still leaves me stunned even on a second read. It is considered a feminist staple. A lot of the doctors have changed their ways of treatment after reading it. I could talk for hours about how brilliant this book is! Basically what I am saying is, do read this book if you haven't already. It is very heartbreaking, gut-wrenching, and BRILLIANT!! So please go read it. I know I will many many times. :) ******************************************************************************************* Rating: 4.5 That ending!😐 This book proves that we don't need pages and pages of description and sudden jump scare scenes to make a creepy story. There is so much depth to the story(which I did not understand completely, tbh😅). I'll be reading it many times in the future and recommending it to everyone for sure.

A must-read classic
Incredible short story. Even though it's short, it's really immersive and you can get really into the narrators headspace. The mind of story you can read over and over again and disciver something new every time.

Short Story Madness <3
I love this short story, works on many levels. I love the extra pages at thw end because it is in old type English and I was able to write down words and definitions so it was a nice learning experience too. I have Bipolar and remembered reading this in English lit. class, it still speaks to me and I'm very happy that now I can own my own copy!

Don't read the foreward - It ruins the expereince
Short story and creepy ion a good way. WARNING: If you don't want a spoiler then done read the foreword, it literally gives away the ending. I wish i didn't read it, it actually took away from the story for me.
