useful gadget that's simple to use
works well though I haven't tested every single fault that it can report.the current detection feature is useful too.would have been nice to include an audible indicator that there's a current to avoid walking back and forth to the consumer unit.instructions don't mention that you can change the internal batteries by opening the case by undoing the 4 screws on the back - obvious I guess but it should have been mentioned

Superb piece of kit
So simple and easy to use, takes out the guess work when checking the mains socket for certain verification

Second chance
I bought a second one of these as the first one failed after 18 months. As a retired engineer, I was quickly able to realise that it had a fault which caused it to trip my electricity as soon as it was plugged in. However, I liked the simplicity and ease of use I decided to give it a second chance and purchased a replacement. have restored the 2 stars I knocked as I thought it should have lasted longer than 18 months of very limited use.Amendment to my original review the company have answered my concerns and refunded me my original purchase cost ....its very nice to see a company who looks after their customers for this reason I have reviewed my rating, and I highly recommend.

Good news and bad news
The good news is that this tester is a lot easier to use and interpret than the traditional passive "three neon" variety. It also incorporates a Non-Contact Voltage tester and an RCD test button. I like it but there are potential down-sides.1) It requires two AAA batteries. Not a game-changer but you might want to swap out the ones it came with if my past experience with the batteries supplied in cheap Chinese electronic equipment are anything to go by. On the other hand, the old passive type does not require any batteries at all to work.2) The RCD test button is not recessed in any way so it is easy to press by accident. You will not make friends with the people using the Wi-Fi when you do this! It is a pity, because the RCD test button could have EASILY been recessed (or a sliding switch perhaps?) so this could not happen but there is not an easy way to retrofit a protective cover to it.3) The way that the L, N, and E poles are terminated to the PCB is a bit suspect. I do wonder about the longevity of this device.4) As another reviewer has pointed out - this device will not necessarily help you spot sockets where N and E have been deliberately tied together (so called bootleg ground). This is not, to my knowledge, a common situation in the UK. However I know that it is in older properties in some countries. In summary... a nice device in many ways, but understand its limitations.

Socket it to me
Great addition, intuitive display. Just my a little too wide on some double gang plugs, so have to turn socket on before plugging in

Quality Issues!
Items arrived quickly and adequately packed. The two items sent however leave a lot to be desired with them both being faulty and potentially dangerous. The socket tester was opened and applied to a known operational socket for testing and evaluation. Th unit however had different motives and tripped the RCD on the master box with a blue flash coming from the unit. The contactless voltage unit was then tested with the batteries provided inserted into the handle. The unit, torch and display failed to operate at all. The batteries were replaced with known functional batteries but again no life at all from the unit, completely dead. These are obviously going to be returned for refund and for both items sent out to be suspect and faulty to me indicates that this company has quality issues, that could be potentially dangerous safety concerns. There are no indication of the electrical safety of the products and maybe a Trading Standards Referral is necessary.

Works very well
Good product

Great for checking mains wiring is correct.
If messing with mains ring mains you can check everything with these except the ring integrety itself. (You can check that actually with a dvm on impedance with the power off)

Receptical tester game changer
The media could not be loaded. I have been using this tester everyday at work for about 3 weeks now and it works great. I love the way it displays the line voltage and it lets you know if the receptacle is wired correctly. One downfall is that it's a bit bulky.

A very handy tool for an electrician or DIYer
The media could not be loaded. Hold down power button for 2 secs and it turns on. LED colors are nice and bright on the black background. Manual mentioned to put batteries in, but save your time, mine came with them. When you plug it into an outlet if properly wired as mine is, you'll get CORRECT displaying (if not, INCORRECT below that should illuminate. E, N, L also glowed for ground, neutral, hot, while a lightning symbol shows power, and 120V (or very near that) should display as well. In my photo of the surge strip you can see how it detects nearby electrical power (NCV). More bars illuminate and it will also beep faster the closer you are. I tested GFCI as in the video and this GFCI outlet tripped as well as my upstream one. I'll find this a handy addition to my electrical tools.

Check for correct wiring and voltage at the same time.
Very good tester. Its great to see if the receptacle is wired properly and also the voltage at the receptacle so you know the voltage is correct.

NCV testing unreliable, plugged in works great
This works great plugged in but non contact voltage testing (ncv) of outlets is hit or miss. Some conventional outlets show power, some don't (outlets that in fact have power). A multi outlet and USB outlet exposed add-on outlet shows power when the device is not yet even touching the outlet plastic. But some regular wall outlets show like they are unpowered when in fact they have power. But using the device plugged in it is a solid bet.
