Parasound Zdac v.2 DAC & Headphone Amp

The Zdac v2 has amazing clarity, outstanding imagery and a headphone amp that is usually found on more expensive models. My previous dac was the Dacmagic Plus which was a solid performer but was blown away by the Zdac. I highly recommend this product.

My modest system has always been musically satisfying. The upgrade bug, however, recently struck so after considerable research, I decided on Parasound's Zdac v.2. Disappointment set in all too soon as the music simply lost its magic. It seemed veiled and dull and somehow lacked immediacy. Days in, I threw on Lana Del Rey's Born to Die, a recording I know very well, especially "Summertime Sadness." No joy. I swapped the Zdac out for my Cambridge Dacmagic 100 with its Audiophile Linear PSU. The magic was immediately restored. The Zdac? Returned. That said, with consistent good reviews and ease of return through Amazon, the Zdac is surely worth a try.

Parasound excellence in a small package

I'm very impressed with this DAC/Headphone Amp as compared to Cambridge Audio DacMagic Plus or a Schit Magna/Modi stack. I've had both setups in the past and this one clearly sounds a step above them. I highly recommend this Parasound unit for not just excellent sound quality for the price, but for durability as well. Parasound is well know for the bullet proof build quality in their amplifiers and pre-amps. This unit feels like quality and is built like a tank.
