works great its amazing what it catches
I'm pretty happy with these filters they work great. I set them up as a "subscribe & save" so every 3 months I get one in the mail automatically that way I never have to remember when to replace it. In the summer when I run the sprinklers and fill up the pool I switch it to bi-monthly. Our water here in the SW suburbs of Chicago is very hard the filter seems to take quite a bit of it out. The advantages that we can see are less mineral deposits in the dishwasher. I have also noticed that the filters in our RO water system came out allot cleaner this last time so maybe I'll experiment with letting them go a little longer. 1 YEAR UPDATE so I've been using them for almost a year. And I must say i'm still very happy with their performance. The subscribe and save price has gone up by a dollar and change but doesn't bother me enough to find a different filter. I have had NO instances of my unit falling apart, tearing or disolving so these other folks must just have terrible water or be leaving them in WAY too long! Drained my water heater about two months ago and not too much sediment came out unlike in past years so they are definitly helping. (when I replace the filter its completely covered in rust deposits and I mean COMPLETELY covered. Its amazing what this thing is catching!) I'm keeping the 5 stars they are pretty cheap and work well so all in all I think its a pretty good value.

Filter for Fogging System
I purchased this product in May 2013 to filter very fine sediments from my water well, which I use for my fogging system in the farm. At the same time, we use it also for our water consumption, so it is important to remove scale, silt and dirt. Because the fogging nozzles I am using are very sensitive to sediments that are bigger than 10 microns, I used the Culligan CP5-BBS Level 4 Heavy Duty Sediment Cartridge, enclosed in a Culligan HD-950A 1-Inch Outlet/Inlet Heavy Duty Sediment Water Filter Housing, because it filters up to 5 microns. Since then I never had problems with my fogging system. I am very impressed with the result. After 2 years of using it, I decided to write a review. While installing it 2 years ago, I was worried that this product would slow down the water flow rate, much lower than our desired 18-20 gallons per minute, which would then be detrimental to our fogging machine. But it turned out that this product has a high flow rate. Today, I am buying another 4 of this cartridge, good for another year of supply. I would definitely recommend this product together with the Culligan HD-950A water filter housing to anyone who is using a fogging system for greenhouse plants, and to anyone who has issues with the quality of their water.

Pleasantly surprised
I can't say I noticed much difference in my water after replacing the 50 micron filter with this one because I don't have a big problem with sediment. But I am pleased that the flow rate in the house doesn't seem any different. It's been installed about 2 months now. I expect it won't last as long as the 50 version but if my water is cleaner then it's worth it. UPDATE Sept. 17, 2010 I learned something the hard way -- CHANGE THE FILTER REGULARLY! I was waiting for the flow rate to go down as a sign to change this filter but it never decreased. Then a month or two ago I noticed the water starting to smell and it really got pretty bad. I'm on a well so wasn't sure if it was the ground water changing but then thought of the filter. Oh my gosh, it was gross. Black & slimy & stinky and the paper had torn so the water was flowing right through with no filtering, hence no pressure loss. This was about 6 months use on a well (no chlorine) which was way way too long at it turned out. I'd say the filter should be changed every 2 months.

great filter
Even though not recommended for untreated well water, I've found this filter to be highly effective. We haven't had any problems. They remove much more sediment than the R50-BBSA filter (50 micron). Before switching, washing cars left a noticeable haze on the finish. Using these, that haze is almost gone. Our well supplies two houses, lawns, gardens, and up to 300 head of cattle, so it gets a workout. We use two, plumbed in parallel and getting around 6 weeks before replacement. Once they start to plug the flow rate drops off faster than the R50-BBSA. What I expect with a finer filter.

BEWARE! 2-count + 4-count are DIFFERENT filters than Culligan CP5-BBS
Culligan CP5-BBS Whole-House Heavy Duty Premium Water Filter Replacement: BEWARE!!!! I ordered 4-count, and did not look back up to the header to see it had changed to a different filter SIZE!! I used my prior Amazon order for the correct filter for my house: CP5-BBS, clicked 4-count, and wondered HOW I could possibly have ordered the WRONG SIZE!! This listing has a HUGE issue that the different "counts" end up showing 3 different, non-interchangeable sizes. Culligan makes the best water filters. We use this for the first stage filtration, and have a second, finer filter that the water goes through before entering the house.
