CEH v9: Certified Ethical Hacker Version 9 Kit

I thought this book did a very good job explaining ethical hacking overall. This book is filled with tons of information and different types of tools and techniques used in ethical hacking. I will say I did not pass the CEHv9 exam on the first try, but I did pass the exam the second try which I took a week after failing the first time. The reason for giving this book 4 stars is simply because of the systems and tools section within the exam. There are just so many different hacking tools out there and any one of them could be listed on the exam. You will need more than this book to study on the different tools used for ethical hacking that they do not cover. That is the sole reason why I failed the first time taking the exam because I was not familiar with some of the tools they were referencing. I would suggest anyone planning on taking the exam to try and study as many tools as possible and at least know what they are used for since the systems and tools domain is 32 percent of the exam. As for everything else the book was a great and helpful source. the sybex test bank questions were very helpful. I will say there were a few mistakes with the sybex test bank questions but if you've been in the IT security field for a while like myself, you'll be able to spot those errors out. I would not recommend using this book as your only source although I will say this book did have most of the information needed to past the exam besides the systems and tools section. I'm happy I passed this exam second go around.-good luck to all future CEH exam takers hope this helps a little.

I purchased the CEH v9 Study Guide and Practice Tests a couple of months ago when I took the class and I have studied them ever since. I passed the CEH test today - YEAH!!! Study the guide and the practice tests and you can pass too!

I have learned a lot from the content of this book. Ir's pretty easy to digest and does a great job of spelling out what you need to pay attention to for the exam. The biggest problem is that there are way too many errors for me to fully trust this as my sole source of information for the CEH exam. I've submitted a handful of corrections that have been added to the online errata section, but I'm the one who is supposed to be learning from the book, not the other way around. Even worse, when a correction is accepted and added to the errata, things like incorrect answers given for chapter review questions aren't updated in the online chapter review tests. Now you have the option to choose the correct answer and ignore the big red X on the results page, or purposely choose an answer you know is incorrect, but is listed as the correct answer in their database, just to have a more accurate assessment of what you've learned.The worst part is, if someone like me, who is pretty new to the world of network security, is finding all of these errors and getting them added to the book's list of corrections, how many errors am I missing because I don't know any better and am now committing them to memory as fact?

I purchased this package and so far I am beyond impressed.The only thing I am frustrated with is how do I get access to the 33+ hour training videos? It's still prompting me to pay for those.

After going through the book several times, I never did get the warm fuzzy partly because many of the questions at the end of each chapter and the practice exams are either mis-referenced, poorly worded, or the answer listed does not match up with correct answer. That aside, the book does provide a lot of information but it is way too in depth for this exam.If you are looking for a quick and easy read that’s going help you pass the exam, this book is not it.I passed the exam on 11/10/2017 and my two primary sources were Matt Walkers AIO and the bosons practice exams.

This book is very well written and has lots of practical applications along with the information presented.

Great buy even though v10 is out now. Teaches the basics and offers a lot of insight for beginners.

So I used this book primarily along with labs.Questions were great if not close to the exam and the format was also pretty good for the book.In particular I found in the exam references to tools for scanning, or "hacking" and the book seemed to cover what was needed.Hands on is still a good idea but in combo with this book you can buy the labs from EC-Council for $200 and pass the exam.
