Nice and smooth mouse, good job logitecn
This mouse is great. I have a Windows 10 tablet that I like to use a mouse with when I'm working on it. I was using a mouse with a USB plug before this, but the tablet requires and adapter to use a regular size usb and I could not charge the tablet at the same time I was using the USB mouse. This bluetooth mouse was super easy to pair to the windows tablet (Bluetooth settings, click connect on discover-able mouse). It automatically connects back up when the mouse and PC are both turned back on, and i think it goes to sleep a little to save battery when left idle (have to click, move around sometimes after being idle too long). It is a nice size and fits easily in my purse with my tablet. I have a 'mini' mouse for my desktop at work, and this M557 is only about 3/4" longer than that, fits perfectly in my hand. It does take two AA batteries (my other mouse takes only 1, maybe is the bluetooth signal that uses more juice), the 2 AA batteries make it a little heavier than my other wireless mouse but its not a deal-breaker. There is no blinding blue light on the bottom of the mouse, which is nice. The Windows button works on Windows 10 to bring up your start menu, pretty cool. The scroll wheel is very smooth and not loud. Mouse clicks are slightly louder than my other mouse, but not a deal-breaker. Go ahead and click yes if my review helped you. :)

Nice mouse, works on Linux too; the Bluetooth standard is problematic
This is a nice mouse. I never thought I'd say that, because a mouse is a mouse. But this one just works. It connects easily, stays connected, and tracks well on almost any surface. The tracking and scrolling speeds are just right without adjustment, and the buttons and wheel feel just right. No problems with Bluetooth. The box says it works with Linux too, although I didn't test it. You can't go wrong. Just buy it. UPDATE: It works fine with Linux; the mouse is still excellent, but Bluetooth is problematic. Read the update below. The directions are very brief, very easy to follow, and are printed on the inside of the package. To set it up, it takes a couple of minutes to "pair" it to the computer. You just press a button on the mouse and acknowledge it on the computer, and you're done. I got it for a Win 10 laptop/tablet, and the USB-C ports are too close together to hold both the power supply and a wi-fi mouse receiver. I bought a wi-fi mouse, USB-C adapter, and a small hub to make it all work. Turns out, USB-3 interferes with wi-fi, and the mouse action was jerky. With this mouse you don't have to fuss with any of that stuff. ========================== UPDATE: It turns out that Bluetooth uses the same frequency band with USB-3 AND 2.4 GHz wi-fi (B and G bands). In my case it worked for several months and then, suddenly it quit working. Bluetooth would instantly disconnect the mouse when I started a wi-fi connection. The computer manufacturer replaced the Bluetooth receiver, with no effect. The problem occurred with that computer running Windows 10 on any 2.4 GHz wireless network, but not with Linux or with any other computer. The only common denominator is the Windows Bluetooth driver for that computer, and I think that's probably the problem. From reviews of other Bluetooth mice, every review I found showed that a minority of people report connection problems--regardless of the price of the mouse. The problem appears to be Bluetooth itself, since it shares frequencies with other wireless standards. The software is supposed to handle the shared frequencies without problem, but it may not be iron-clad. I am now using the mouse with another computer, and it still works flawlessly. I leave it on all the time, but the batteries still last for months and months.

Great mouse but loud
I bought this mouse to replace a Logitech M305 that is 8-10 years old and that I have loved and had no issues with until recently. I liked the bluetooth feature, customizable buttons, and price point of this M557. I am using the mouse with a 2013 MacBook Pro and it works great - no connectivity issues and was able to customize the buttons to my liking. The size is great for me, 5'2" female, and offers the portability I need. The only complaint I have is how loud it is. Before purchasing, I read a few reviews that commented on the click noise. I honestly thought those reviewers were just "mouse snobs" as I had never in the past used a mouse that I even thought about how loud the click was. I was sure that it wouldn't bother me. However, after 2 days of use, I can tell the noise is not something I want to listen to everyday. I am a student and am on my computer more than I am away from it most days. That being said, I have ordered a Logitech M330 "silent" mouse to try out. I will keep this bluetooth mouse for our home computer as it works great and was worth the price I paid for it, but I don't see me using it on a daily basis. I think the ergonomics could be a bit better, as well. I've noticed a bit of stiffness in my hand/arm since I've been using it, but hate to attribute it to the mouse until I give it a better test run since I also do a lot of heavy lifting for my job. It may also be important to note that I had no idea my M305 was such a pricy (ie. higher quality) mouse since it was given to me when I was in high school. So maybe that also has something to do with my perspective of the loudness of this M557. Overall, great mouse but a little loud.

Love this mouse.
My husband allowed me to borrow his mouse when my apple magic mouse stopped working. I liked it so much, that I decided to buy one of my own. I like the mouse because it tends to stay connected, the battery life is very good, it's not too bulky and fits perfectly in my hand. Because I am a video editor, I need a mouse that allows me to easily guide the mouse to make precise selections on the timeline without the mouse pointer running all over the screen in a different direction. That is what my apple magic mouse kept doing. It had a mind of its own. But the Logitech M557 works like a charm. I'm very pleased with my experience. As a mac user, I miss having the ability to swipe left and right using this mouse because it does not include those features. However, I can still right-click and get my shortcut menus and, of course, the scroll button works perfectly as well. I was willing to give up a few comforts for the ease of use with this mouse.

Small laptop/tablet BT mouse that works with built-in BT radios
I purchased the Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 2-in-1 Convertible 11.6-inch IPS Touchscreen Laptop(Tablet), Intel Quad Core Processor, 4GB DDR3L, 128GB SSD, HDMI, Bluetooth, Webcam, AC Wifi, Windows 10 Professional and this mouse to be used together. Both came the same day and set both up at the same time. NO receiver is packaged with this mouse. My Yoga laptop/tablet had a built-in BT card combined with the WiFi radio module. The BT version is 4.0 compliant. This mouse works with that BT compliance. Switched on the BT, ran discover on my laptop. Following the directions set forth by Logitech, I was able to instantly get the mouse paired with my laptop. No "0000" code required. Then a problem. The mouse stopped working. Long story, very short -- Windows 10 has a power save option in Device Manager for BT connections. After a short period of time, the BT portion of the WiFi/BT card goes into power save and shuts down. Others here have complained about this problem thinking it was the mouse that died. Solution: Go to Control Panel > Device Manager > BT Adaptor > Properties > Power Management. You can open advanced properties with your admin password. After opening advanced properties, look for "allow computer to turn off this device" and uncheck the box next to this line. This will not allow the computer to turn off the BT setting by itself, unless you so designate. One more thing, any major Windows 10 upgrade will reset this power saving function back on again. You will have to go back and redo what I described again. One quirk of Win 10 that ignores what the end user's preferences are. I hope this glitch gets corrected in future updates. No additional software is needed to operate this BT mouse. It works with the default Microsoft BT drivers. The Logitech software (downloaded from the Logitech web site) gives you extra functions. For me, it works just fine as is. If you are left handed, then to switch orientation of keys, you will need the Logitech software to switch keys and buttons. After fighting my issues, I really like this mouse. NO dongle to keep track of or break. NO software install, unless you have special need. It just works after I found the solution I listed above. Want a good BT mouse, reasonable price and long life, look no further. Take it home and you will not be sorry. The advice I gave above will save you frustration and a needless return defect for something done by the operating system of the computer. One last point -- this mouse has an invisible laser light for movement sensor. This is unlike the red glowing light from other laser type mice. It is not broken, it is using a laser light beam outside the sight range of humans. Also, DO NOT stare into the light port while the mouse is on. You could have problems with vision being burned. This mouse gets my full 5 star rating and deservedly so.

Very nice compact mouse.
I purchased this mouse because I was set on finding a nice mouse that was Bluetooth (I hated the idea of a Logitech Unifying Receiver being plugged into my 13" rMBP). At first I was a bit disappointed with this mouse in conjunction with OS X Yosemite. Connecting the mouse was a breeze, I accidentally did it within 10 seconds. The tracking seemed off and jittery, the buttons weren't customizable in System Preferences, and I was considering returning. All of this was within the first 2 minutes of using the mouse. Then I installed "Logitech Preference Manager". Not only did this open up lots of configuration for the buttons, but tracking improved too! If at first you are not impressed with this mouse on the Mac OS X side of things, make sure to install the Logitech Preference Manager from the Logitech website. I use a Logitech M510 at work with my desktop PC. It's quite a nice mouse and is about the right size for your hand. The M557 is a bit smaller, but it is made for mobile computing and thus made for slipping into a bag. Which is more comfortable, a slightly smaller mouse you slip into a bag and take everywhere with you or a really nice larger mouse that you typically leave at home all the time? I really tried to like the Apple Magic Mouse, but it was uncomfortable (to the point my hand would cramp), tracking was sub-par, and I generally just hated it. The M557, as long as it holds up over time and produces anywhere near expected battery life, will forever be 5 stars by me. Build quality does appear slightly less than some of the other Logitech mice, but I feel it is appropriately built for a sub $40 mouse. I do wish they sold a "Mac" and "PC" version (with the only difference being either a Windows logo or a Mac logo for the center button). Or, they could really do well and just leave that button sold black. I will probably take something like a magic marker and mark out the little Windows logo, but I may just leave it as is. In the Preference Manger, you can setup the scroll wheel tilt to switch between full-screen apps. You can also setup the "Windows button" to do things like App Expose, Launchpad, etc. It is nice being able to hit that button and all of your open apps show up. Eagerly waiting to go home tonight to tryout Command and Conquer Generals: Zero Hour on my Mac with this mouse. WooHoo!

Functions well other than the right button being too sensitive.
I have used Logitech mouses for years and always thought highly of them. Maybe it's bad luck, but I had a problem with the right button being too sensitive. I would accidentally click it frequently. I use this for a tablet. When I right click it takes me back to the prior screen. That's a problem if I'm working on a report and accidentally click the button on the right. It goes back a screen, wiping out my progress. Other than that the mouse works well.

My second one
I had my first one for over a year and a half and it took a beating as I traveled a lot and it was in and out of my backpack on a daily basis. Despite all that it worked great. I was using it with a surface pro and the bluetooth connection was solid every time. It's very responsive and the sensitivity takes some getting used to, but overall a great mouse. The batteries are supposed to last for an entire year due to the low power consumption of the device, but I probably changed the batteries at least two times in that year and half. So with constant daily use you're not quite getting a year out of the batteries. However, not having to change any batteries for months is really great. I would love a model with a built in rechargeable battery that you would only need to charge once every few months. Recently for whatever reason it suddenly stopped working altogether. Now with that said, I loved it so much I just bought another one and I'm still giving it 5 stars.

Easy to use
This was a replacement BT mouse as the previous one failed. I selected another Logitect as it is a known brand. The mouse has the usual left/right buttons and scroll wheel. Pressing the scroll wheel activates the mouse movement scroll. It had an additional button on top labelled Windows. Pressing this opens up the Search window; I don't use it. There is an audible click when you press the left or right buttons. It does not bother me but it could be intrusive in heavy use.
