Animusic 2 - A New Computer Animation Video Album

For me and my already crazy imagination, I found everything to like and nothing not to like. The videos are very original and well thought out, often whimsical and 200% entertaining. The music itself is often very beautiful. The instruments are flawlessly designed and strike or strum the notes exactly where they would if they were real and not haplessly animated like some cheap cartoon. All in all, this is one of the most entertaining collection of videos I've seen in a long time. huge kudos to the artists.

Wayne Lytle and his team present another great portfolio of music animations - the kind of thing you might get if Pixar animated Rube Goldberg doing Fantasia. These 8 pieces cover a wide range of looks and sounds, from the classic visual and artistic styles of Resonant Chamber to the massive, brooding temple of Heavy Light, to Fiber Bundles' organic imagery. Although parts of Animusic 1 reappear here, these scenes not only do well in themselves, they go well beyond the complexity of that earlier set.Except for a piece from Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition," these all present Lytle's own musical compositions. Although they vary, many show influences from Emerson, Lake, and Palmer and other music from that era. Lytle updates the sound, though, suffusing each piece with a happy energy. That cheerful tone comes through especially in Fiber Bundles - its bio-inspired geometries remind me of H.R. Giger, but with a bouncy charm wholly opposite Giger's brooding nightmares.Extras on this disk help stretch out the animations' relatively short playing time. I found the director's commentary informative and enjoyable, the "multi-view" renderings less so. Wide-screen aficionados will be happy to see every piece done in their format as well as full-screen - redone, really, so that each version work properly as a visual composition. These enjoyable shorts have a place in any collection of animations or computer graphics, but I'm sure they'll appeal to far wider audiences than just those.-- wiredweird

Do I need to say it? One difference though: the first half seems to show robots at work in contrast to Animusic 1's "musical instruments playing musical instruments". Plus, the outer covering was somewhat torn/loosely hanging in the back. But the good thing is the disk works perfectly. Same rewarding [viewing] pleasure of Crognale and Lytle's hard work. Well almost the same; it IS a follow-up/sequel. I wonder when and if there will be a third Animusic video album.

Being 63 you wouldn't think I could be interested in midi music but this is SO CUTE! And SO well done. It is just fascinating how the music notes come together with the actions in perfect syncronization.I have an adversion to church music, especially the durge sound of the church organ, but the Cathedral piece made me think of Boris Karloff on steroids. LOL Then there is the shooting balls (Pipe Dream - my favorite).The graphics are all first rate, the director's comments illuminating, and one can see that a lot of work (and work ethic) went into producing this DVD. It seems no effort was short changed, no corner cut.This isn't like a movie where you might not watch it again for months or even years. I go back to this when I need my spirits lifted or just to get my mind off the drudgery. Plus it is nice to show to a visiting guest who isn't familiar with it. Chances are this will get a lot of play at your house too.Arthur

I have 3 and 5 year-old boys. I try to give them as many educational videos as I can when the television or iPad is on (for the limited number of hours per week at this point!) Even though, this isn't really educational, it is quite musical. They constantly ask brilliant questions about the animation or the music. I believe that music gets a different part of their brain engaged and helps them grow. They constantly ask for this video over most of the other videos available to them. It is something I enjoy sitting down with them to watch. You don't get tired of it!

I saw the preview for `Animusic 2' and was very eager to get my hands on this new 8 track DVD. After watching it I would have to say that this DVD was just a bit over hyped. `Animusic 2' is not a bad watch at all. I enjoyed watching it, but I think that is the secret word here. This DVD was more visual than musical. The original's music was what really made the overall DVD great. I loved the new sequences from a visual standpoint. It was a huge step forward from the original. The highpoints were the return of the stickman with his new posse as well as the starship grooving robots and who can forget the amazing finale in `Heavy Light'. The visuals were great but the music was just not the perfect match and that was a huge step back. If there will be an `Animusic 3', which there are very few rumors about, I feel Wayne Lyttle needs to remember that its not `Animusic' with out the music.

This is an excellently created and performed video. I have shown it to countless family and friends, and they all love it. I have a rather large DVD library, and this is one of the few that I watch frequently. While I hesitate to compare "Animusic 2" to the first release, "Animusic", this really is superior in quality and depth. It is visually beautiful on a widescreen TV, and the graphics are much more detailed and interesting than in "Animusic". I do recommend both, however.The amazingly cool technology feat behind this production is that it's not simply "animation" done to to music like you would see in productions like Fantasia. All of the "performing objects" in each scene are separately tied to MIDI controls, so the objects actually appear to "perform" exactly what notes they are playing. Everything is synchronized to perfection. A lot of thought and effort went into this. I highly recommend it.

Sehr schnelle Lieferung - danke! Artikel ausgepackt - angeschaut - - - und erschrocken!!! Da lese ich auf der Rückseite der Hülle "NTSC"! -Habe ich das etwa bei der Artikelbeschreibung übersehen? Mit der amerikanischen Norm kann ich nichts anfangen, meine gesamte Technik arbeitet mit PAL. Da habe ich mir zum ersten Mal Gedanken gemacht, wie ich denn einen Artikel zurücksenden muss, der nicht direkt durch AMAZON, sondern vom Händler verschickt wurde? Geht das nun auch wieder direkt an den Händler oder an AMAZON? - Zum Glück brauchte ich das aber doch nicht, ich habe nun die DVD einfach mal eingelegt und gestartet - und siehe da: sie läuft problemlos - unnötige Aufregung! Zum Inhalt brauche ich ja nichts zu sagen - das wurde hier schon häufig gelobt - und man kann es ja auch nur loben (und weiterempfehlen!).

Da hat sich Wayne voll übertroffen.Die DVD ist wieder gut gefüllt mit weiteren Musik-PC-Videos.Dazu hat er den PIPEDREAM nochmal voll aufleben lassen. ich dachte schon: "Nanu, ausversehen reingerutscht?"NEIN, in voller Absicht und auf Beat getrimmt. Ein Ohrenschmaus.Hoffendlich besinnt er sich auf einen dritten Teil.

Vorneweg: Meine Rezension gilt sowohl für Animusc als auch für Animusic 2.Diese DVD's kann man nicht beschreiben! Man muss sie sehen und hören.Mit viel Phantasie und technischem Können ist es den Autoren der DVD's gelungen, einzigartigeMeisterwerke zu 'erschaffen'.Die gezeigten Phantasie-Instrumente sind absolut stimmig zur Musik animiert und es ist jederzeit vorstellbar,dass es derartige Instrumente wirkich geben könnte.Vor allem für Home-Cinema-Besitzer eröffnet sich eine Klangfülle ohnegleichen.Wer seine Anlage gerne bis an ihre Grenzen ausreizen möchte (wohlwollende Nachbarn vorausgesetzt),ist hiermit bestens bedient. Man kann die DVD's natürlich auch etwas leiser anhören ;-)Wer beabsichtigt, sich ein Heim-Kino zu kaufen, sollte eine dieser DVD's mit in den Laden nehmen.Alle werden 'Baukötzchen' staunen, wenn man Bässe und Lautstärke aufdreht, um die Anlageauf ihren Sound zu testen.Die DVD's werden standardmäßig in Stereo wiedergegeben und sind deshalb durchaus auch fürStereo-Fernsehen ohne Heimkino möglich.Alle, die ein 5.1 Heim-Kino ihr Eigen nennen, sollten im Hauptmenü auf 'Surround' umschalten- und es wird Euch Hören und Sehen vergehen! Einfach GRANDIOS.Wer Genaueres zum Inhalt der DVD's wissen möchte, sollte mit 'animusic' googlen und wirdunweigerlich auf die Homepage der Autoren stoßen, um sich dort einen Überblick zu verschaffen.Dort werden u.A. kurze Animationen zum Inhalt angeboten.Und ich bin überzeugt, jeder der sich die Seite angeschaut hat, wird anschließend -so wie ich-bei Amazon oder einem seiner Händler 'zuschlagen'.FAZIT:Der Preis ist zwar relativ hoch, etwas Vergleichbares, das günstiger wäre, gibt es aber wohl nicht!Wer 'elektronische' Musik mag und Spaß an Animationen (a' la Pixar-Art) hat, ist mit diesen DVD'sbestens bedient und wird den Kauf sicher nicht bereuen.

Nachdem ich nur langsames Internet habe, konnte ich meine Lieblings-Animation "resonant chamber" bisher nie wirklich mit Genuß sehen. Diese DVD, die in HD aufgenommen ist (8GB drauf)und sowohl in Breitformat als normal abspielbar, erlaubt nun wirklich vollen Genuß. Gegenüber "resonant chamber" fallen die anderen 7 Videos zwar etwas ab, aber das ist wohl auch Geschmacksache. Keine Abspielprobleme auf meinem Bluerayplayer, obwohl aus USA NTSC (und damit wohl kein countrycode).

Wer Animusic nicht kennt, hat etwas verpasst. Nachdem ich den Teil 1 bereits kannte, musste ich auch die Fortsetzung haben. Es macht viel Spaß die aufwendige Animation der kraftvollen und wohlfein komponierten Musik anzuschauen, selbst die Enkel sind begeistert un wollen sie immer wieder sehen. Die Musik geht nicht nur ins Ohr, hier ist auch jeder Ton zu sehen. Tolle Idee, klasse animiert, fantasiereich und farbenfroh gestaltet und ein Genuss für Jung und Alt.
