The Surface Texture Answer Book

An indispensable resource for practitioners
The book presents a plethora of information in a clear and useful way. Effectively bridges theory and practice. I have not found a resource that is more concise on the subject.

Great read, learned even more, very clear, well formatted, etc...
I really liked reading this book from Malburg and Musolff, and can almost hearthe voice from the EXCELLENT UToob "Notepad Series" on roughness, waviness, Ra, etc...This book is easier to read, especially in its Q&A style. There are "hundreds" of usefulfigures and tables, with a consistent format. Also, they are easily linked from page topage, and across sections by page#. It did take me awhile to find the equivalent of aglossary (named terms and definitions), as I was expecting this at the very end, and not3/4 thru the text. I would add more terms, such as arcuate (spelled correctly). Also, I really liked the timely discussion on 2d versus 3d.The references (such as Whitehouse) were solid. Ditto for the ASME and ISO stds. This book is clearly not a text book, as it asks and answers questions for the potentialand/or actual buyer/user. Next, I liked the "web references", as I learned something aboutthe NIST software. Adding GAR and Rubert would be a good idea. As well as describingthe type (A, B, C, D, tactile, visual) of standards.A mention of AFM would be nice. Finally, this book makes it VERY clear that a skidded device will only get you a roughness. You need skidless to get primary, waviness, as well as roughness! Thanks!!

Excellent practical book on Surface Texture
In over four decades of research, teaching, and consulting. this is the best book I have seen on surface roughness and the other components of surface texture. It answers important questions clearly, completely, and correctly. It is current and practical. It cites current national and international standards. It is a must for anyone involved with surface textures, including design, manufacturing, and quality engineers, scientists, and technicians,

Excellent
Great book from experts in the field. I still have to dig deeper, but I am a bit surprised by the relatively large price drop not even a week after release. (Too bad I didn’t have the patience, but it’s worth the original $80 and a bargain for the lower price.)

Very good book
After looking through the book it is clear that Mr. Malburg and Mr. Musolff are very sharp and know what they are talking about, very interesting reading.

Excellent!
This is an excellent informative book.It answers all the most common surface texture questions asked in industry, in a simple, well-structured manner.Great to have to hand if you need some tips.Especially liked the comparisons between 2D and Areal measurement.Would love to see a book going into more detail with 3D measurement. The years of industry experience and vast metrology knowledge shines through in this book!
