Valuable installation tip
I have owned two APEC countertop systems replacing the filters on several occasions. The quality of the water is very good and changing the filters is pretty simple (instructions included). A few previous buyers wrote reviews recommending running water thru the #1 & #2 (carbon) filters before hooking them up to the final filters, #3 & #4. I tried this today with the replacement filters I just received and believe this is a great idea that probably will increase the efficiency and longevity of the system. It took a few minutes and flushed out a surprising amount of black sediment. After it ran clear I hooked it up and was good to go. Our household water is potable but when it comes to water for drinking, coffee, and ice this system provides a crystal clear product. We fill two 1 gallon containers as needed. It takes about 20 minutes to make a gallon.

Super Easy to install
Before I purchase these replacement filters. My waste water drain is not a flow smoothly anymore, and the filtered water flows slower that when I first purchased it. The installation process is super easy, I was able to complete it within 10 min, then you need to let it run for 15 mins. Afterward, the improvement is very noticeable, the waste water now flow very smoothly, and the filtered water come out much faster. You definitely need to replace your filter every 6 month. Go my fellow hydrohomies!

very good water
it is very good and you can have unlimited of it, it seems...but overall doing the math, this is more expensive, than a buying bottle water.

Great filters, but terrible instructions
What you are not told is how to make sure you rinse the new filters before installing. If you do not, you will push all the charcoal dust into the system, making the filter less efficient, and greatly slowing the flow of water through the system. When you get the new charcoal filter, disconnect the line in from the first line of defense, the sediment filter. Look at the new filter, and find the arrow that shows direction of water. Connect the line in from the faucet to the inlet side of the new charcoal filter. Point the outlet for that filter into the sink, and run the water for at least one minute. You will see why as soon as you turn on the water, as what comes out will be black. Run until the water is clear, probably at least one gallon. Then connect everything and you are ready to go.

Easy to install water filter.
I really like this water filtration system. Water tastes so much better after filtration and it brings the particular matter to almost zero.

I’m so disappointed and mad ‼️
I am so disappointed with this product I am using this filtration system for many years . I never had that issue before . But this is second time happening to me with my replacement filters . About a years ago, I had an issue similar to what you see right now, but it was after one year of using it, and accumulation in the tube was slightly grey. This time I exchanged filters on the end of November 2023 , today’s end of February, practically are used only for three months, and I did not pay attention what was happening inside of the tube. I have just noticed inside of my electrical tea kettle, the walls, and the bottom of the cattle was covered with black. It doesn’t show when you fill trading water., but then, when I would boil it, he just stays on the wall of the metal of my electrical tea kettle. I couldn’t understand where that was coming from. And then I decide to look inside of the tube from filtrating system. and sure enough the whole tube is completely black no matter where are you going to cut it off?. I have no idea what that is. But scares the heck out of me. I am paying money to filter my water., I’m just wondering at this point what exactly am I adding to my water as a poison at this point. Seems that that system not that good anymore as it used to be. It’s very disappointing. And I can reach out to the factory already for three days. I’m calling every day and I would be on hold for ever, finally today. I left a message about six hours ago and I still didn’t hear from anyone. I decided to reach out to Customer Service of Amazon due to placing it through Amazon, and to inform them that Product is scaring me. I am wondering if any of you have purchased before had the same issue as I’m having right now . a year ago I spoke with Customer Service about it, and they told me this is just charcoal leaking out and because I’m holding that filter for too long because it was close to one year. But right now I’m wondering what kind a excuse. I will hear because I’m using it only for three months. Besides, I just replaced the whole system last year, that means I have five years ahead of me do use the main filters, I just need to replace only two every year or so. Years ago, one of the representatives informed me since I’m living alone and using that as much water, it’s enough to replace once a year, but a year ago, another representative told me that it’s not true and I have to replace every six months, I understand that’s good for business, but I don’t think even for six months there are providing a good filtrating system.

Carbon Dust
As noted by other buyers, the initial carbon block filter (CT-24CAB) used to reduce the chlorine in the incoming wash to the membrane does have some loose carbon dust/fines, same as the output filter and contrary to what the installation instructions state. Once installed, the dust can be easily flushed out by detaching the block filter output line from the input fastener on the membrane sump/cylinder and running water through the first two filters until the rinse is clear. Although there is not much dust present, I believe flushing the block filter prolongs the life of the membrane. Mine has been installed for two years and still yields a reading of 10 ppm versus 440 ppm from the tap - certainly a quality result.
