I do NOT recommend this dehydrator. Although the price is reasonable, save your money and buy something made in the USA. My story: I bought this GooD4U dehydrator just over a year ago, and it worked well until (you guessed it) the one-year warranty ran out. The heating element quit, so it was blowing only cool air. I contacted the company and they got right back to me asking for details and wanting me to send the entire dehydrator back so they could "fix" it. I told them my husband was a fix-it guy, and could they please just send me a new heating element. With this question, I received NO further response! This tells me that when you send the machine back for fixing, they most likely pitch it and send you another one (getting them from China for a few dollars, and selling them for $145). It may sound great to get a new one each time you have an issue, but you have to pay shipping both ways and most likely a parts cost. The biggest issue I have is that we are filling our landfills with this type of garbage. Right now I plan to connect a heat lamp behind this dehydrator and see if I can still use it. If not, I'll look for one that is made in the US.

Great dehydrator
Be warned with 12 sq ft of drying space this is a sizeable counter top addition, I dislike that you cannot just turn it on and let it run, you have to set the timer for it to start running, but that is a nice safety feature (I can be forgetful) I have finally given it a break since I got it set up, and I have made some grawnola, bananas, apples, flax crackers, and a few other dried veggies for snacks and it has done an amazing job. I am sure someone will get one with a bad motor, or danaged tray at some point and give it bad reviews, but I personally enjoy it and think it was a wise investment.

new preper
I am very happy with it. I have used it several times on various items. Meats veggies, jerky and they all ran fine. For the price, this is an excellent unit. I would recommend this dehydrator.

excellent
I've used this product ALOT. I have made my own beef jerky and dried fruits. I have probably saved the amount of money I spent on the Dehydrator with as much jerky as I have made. It works well and I put the trays in the dish washer. Overall great product.

not happy yet
I did not order this product via Amazon but through another source. Because I was new to dehydrators I was not certain how much time it took for things to dry. I did a lot of research: read a lot and spoke to a lot of people who worked regularly w/ dehydrators. I figured there was a learning curve and I used the machine for a number of months, rarely getting the results I expected. I finally realized the motor/heat gauge on my dehydrator was malfunctioning and sent it back. I was sent another one and it arrived with the temp control knob broken off and no way to fix it. The knob had been attached with a incorrect component that was too short to fit from the knob into the dehydrator. (Also, the shelves had not been packed "evenly" and it was amazing they hadn't broken.) The next dehydrator I received was packed well, but there was one small screw and washer inside the machine, floating around, not attached to anything, and it was unclear where exactly it came from. I began using the dehydrator anyway, it seemed to work the first two days, but then it developed a rattle and the temp gauge again seems to be wrong. 105 degrees is very cool air. I do need to say I haven't put a thermometer inside to check. I feel like I bought a loser. I don't know who is assembling these simple machines, but it does not seem as if they are trained well. I can not vouch for the temp control. Simple crackers take beyond 40 hours to dry. I would go with a different brand if I did this again.

Amazing Dehydrator!
I actually own 6 of these units (I dry fruits and vegetables for farmer's markets). Needless to say, owning 6 of them...these machines are marvelous. I have never had one go out on me (and in all reality, the construction of these is pretty simple...heating element, a fan, racks, and a timer). The space in the racks is perfect. The units run out quietly. I am a 100% believer in the STX Dehydra and would recommend them to any person looking to acquire a reliable and affordable entry-level dehydrator.
