Convenient
This works great in a camper when you don't want to use the gas stove. It does take a few minutes to heat up but still a great product, really like the idea of having both gas & electric. Easy to move around when not in use.

A Good Durable 2 Burner Countertop Stove - With a steep Heating Curve!
I bought the Cuisinart Cast Iron Double-burner to replace my Ovente double-burner after the heat knob for one of its elements began taking the day off(!) It either would not turn the burner on, or, would stay on, and allow it to get hot enough to melt the SUN.Compared to that departed Ovente, everything about this Cuisinart counter top feels better constructed and more substantial. The control knobs are much larger, and are clearly indexed for exact setting and smooth adjustment. The green ready lamps let us know when a desired heat setting is reached, and the amber on lamps warn you of a burner left on before you leave for work.It is overall about half an inch wider(left to right) than the Ovente, 2 inches deeper(front to back) and half an inch taller. Plus, a beefier three-prong grounded power cord. Yes, this thing is like a TANK, and it shows. Plan a space to set it up accordingly. As with my Ovente review, I recommend the following settings for specific uses:5 - for boiling a pot of water for pasta, etc.4 - for heating up a kettle(many kettles advise against maximum stove heat).3-4 - Most general cooking1-2 - Low to simmer1 - Keep it warm! The biggest caveat: These are CAST-IRON burners, not infrareds, or coils, or inductive. So learning how they heat up might take some practice. While a regular coil-burnered full size range, or the Ovente burner, might heat up a pot relatively quickly, the Cuisinart heats up much slower, and, STAYS WARMER MUCH LONGER. That is why I took off one star, above, for temp. control. It will stay hot for up to 5 minutes after you turn off a burner, so whatever you are warming up or are cooking will continue to cook for several minutes after turning it off. Learn the warming curve of this appliance, and you won't go wrong.Cleanup is a little bit easier, with fewer gaps and crevices for spilled ingredients to get inside the Cuisinart. It's the stove I should have bought six or seven months ago, and now two weeks later, it has already paid itself off in our 'range-less kitchen'! :D

Easy cleanup, nice size, clean burners.
We love this cooktop. I bought this to keep my husband happy after we purchased and installed a glass cooktop. I knew he would be a little intimidated cooking on the glass stovetop. I love it and wish I could get a 4 burner stovetop for my ! It cleans up very easy. We have laid down a silicone pad on the glass stovetop and use the Cuisinart 2 burner cooktop on top of that, protecting the glass cooktop but using the Cuisinart cooktop, which has a much easier cleanup. Love the cast iron burners.

4 years later - VERY well worth the purchase!
It's been FOUR YEARS since I bought this and I HAVE to up-date! Do NOT hesitate to purchase this! Don't bother to look else-where! For 4 years I haven't used the stove at all because this little gem cooks everything from pot roasts through stews, soups, fried foods, pancakes, eggs, absolutely EVERY-THING! And I've noticed a MAJOR difference in my utility bills since I've used it. It cooks as well (and almost as quickly) as the stove but using a LOT LESS power!CUISINART REALLY out-did themselves with this item! I've NEVER been moved to actually WANT to let people know about a truly GREAT item, but I can't resist this time.BUY! With confidence! Less expensive will be "cheaper" in quality and I don't think ANYTHING can beat this!4 years and it works as well as it did right out of the box! Easy to clean, maintain.Yes, the top does get hot so be careful of that. And my ONLY disappointment is that it does scratch easily. Hopefully CUISINART has done something about that. But other-wise... a truly remarkable appliance that has served for 4 years... and with DAILY use!(Original Review)I've waited 8 months before reviewing because I wanted to be sure this was worth the purchase and IT IS! Because I rent from a landlord who knows the stove supplied doesn't work & refuses to replace it, I bought this, hoping to be able to use it for every day cooking. I didn't expect much from it but today, I can say that I've cooked complete meals including pot roasts, soups, deep fried foods & the likes (mostly on the larger of the 2 burners). Yes, it takes a few minutes longer than the stove to heat, & it's best to use covered pots, cooking time takes mere minutes longer, but the convenience and the reduction in my electric bills have MORE than paid for it. I'd originally tried to save by purchasing a "sound-alike" brand, and that didn't last through the first use. So the extra money spent has been more than worth the investment. I just wish Cuisinart hadn't surrendered to the "Made In" because the difference in quality is noticeable. But other-wise, I can say that, this being all that's available, it IS worth the investment. Just be sure to watch for "boil-overs" as these can make a bit of a difficult clean-up on the burners. But with regular care, mine looks today, as good as it did when it came out of the box!
