Really well-designed and presented fermentation kit
This fermenter from Kerfirko comes in a nice presentation box and has everything you need to start fermenting fruit and vegetables, including a comprehensive, well-written and nicely illustrated 62 -page colour instruction/recipe book. The book covers all of the background to fermentation, including the science behind it, step by step guide to fermenting fruits and vegetables, FAQs, Troubleshooting page, and 26 recipes. As well as the large capacity fermentation jar, there are a pounder/tongs, a glass compression weight, stainless steel compression spring, screw on main lid with air extraction pump, and a top lid with vented valve/odour neutraliser and manual dial fermentation clock. You even get a couple of replacement active carbon lid inserts for the top lid.The top lid is flat and the manufacturers say that this is so that you can stack the jars should you wish to. I also like the fact that there is an indentation around the top section of the jar making it easier to grip and reducing the risk of it slipping out of your hands.I was slightly apprehensive about the quality of the stainless-steel compression spring, given that it would spend long periods of time in salty solutions. However, it emerged after seven days fermentation with no sign of corrosion on it.I decided to try the fermentation jar out by making Kimchi. The recipe in the instruction booklet was easy to follow, the jar performed perfectly and, less than a week later, we had a jar of delicious Kimchi.Personally, I think the manual fermentation clock is a bit of a gimmick as it relies on you remembering to take off the top lid and turn the clock on every day. I forgot to do this on a couple of occasions, so would recommend you make a note on a calendar when you start off the process and/or put a sticker on the jar.Whether you have fermented fruit and vegetables before, as I have, or are looking to try it out for the first time, I would highly recommend the Kerfirko kit. It would also make an interesting present for someone who likes cooking and/or kitchen gadgets.

Great design for fermentation
My wife was really pleased with this.“I have tried making fermented things in an ordinary jar, and failed miserably due to the thinness of the glass. There is no chance of this happening here, as the glass is really thick and shaped for easy handling, as well as being stackable with any others you may have/You get all the parts you need, as well as a recipe book, and it really gives you inspiration and some excellent ideas to make your own kimchi and sauerkraut as well as others.I have no worries about it exploding; all the parts are well made and strong, and all the accessories make it so easy to press down the vegetables, time the fermentation process with the clock and pump out the excess air via the little pump on the lid.It does all I want, and I am so happy that I’ve got it to help prepare healthy food. Good value, too.”

Vegetable fermentation introduction
I had never even considered fermenting vegetables before now, but with a recent interest in Korean food, I decided to try this Kefirko Vegetable Fermenter. This fermenter comes with a great starter kit, containing everything you would need, plus a 62 page recipe book. The kit contained a top lid with odour neutraliser (and spare carbon filters), another lid with pump and fermentation clock, glass compression weight, a stainless steel "pressing" spring and tongs & pounder. The recipe book included instructions for Kimchi which was simple to follow. One week later, the Kimchi was ready to eat - delicious. I had thought I would keep the Kimchi in the fridge whilst it fermented, but no, this reduces the fermentation. Only keep it in the fridge after the fermentation finishes.Overall, a very simple to use kit, with some great recipes, to use that expands you culinary repertoire. Now to try some other recipes :)

Well designed kit that is perfect for a beginner
This kit is great for anyone who is new to fermenting vegetables. The parts of the kit all feel well made and the jar is made from thick glass and it feels like it will last for years. The jar works incredibly well, especially with the way it allows air to escape. I love the fact that it doesn't take up much room and is so self-contained. Obviously, the jar is small but it is perfect for singles/couples or people who have small kitchens. The kit contains a well-written booklet with instructions and some recipe ideas.

Really great for newbies to fermenting
This is a great way for someone new to get into fermenting. I have wanted to do this but the whole process and worrying about having spoilage and mould was worrying me but this makes it lots easier especially with the allowing of the air to escape to ensure the whole process is safe.It is easy to use and understand. The materials are very high quality with strong glass and also meaning everything is BPA free. It has been easy to ferment foods. Only tried kraut so far but looking forward to trying various options and integrating more fermented food in my diet. Great kit to be able to do this
