ShunClassic 6-piece Slim Knife Block Set

I purchased this knife set in December 2021 after doing extensive research, as I wanted a set that would cover all my needs without having to buy another. The quality is exceptional. The knives arrived razor-sharp right out of the box, and both the build and appearance are stunning. Even after years of use, their sharpness holds up incredibly well.As of October 2024, I'm writing this review after finally deciding to sharpen them for the first time, not because they had dulled, but as part of a new hobby. They were still sharp enough to pass the paper cutting test before sharpening, which speaks volumes about their longevity.The only additional knife I bought was a bread knife after a few months. The only other one I'm considering is a petty/utility knife, but purely out of interest in expanding my collection, not out of necessity. This set truly has everything you need, and with minimal care, it will last a lifetime.Yes, it's pricey, but you absolutely get what you pay for. These will likely be the best quality knives you've ever used. You won't be disappointed.

My adult son, a professional Chef was beyond thrilled with this Xmas gift. The quality of the knives is superior, incredibly sharp. They are weighted perfectly for ease in use. The Knife Block is attractive yet slim and unobtrusive.I did have to order the Serrated Bread Knife separately (not included) but, fortunately the knife block included a couple of free slots!

I'm not a knife expert, but in comparison to my old knives these are great. Not too heavy and very sharp, it takes very little effort to slice with them.The wood block is a bit different in color than I expected from the color of it in the image, but it's still beautiful. It is more of a dark brown color rather than having a grey color to it.

Incredibly sharp and well-made. I was initially reluctant to spend the money to buy something of this quality, but now I'm glad I did. This is a great starter set, (3 basic knives, a honing tool and a very good pair of scissors) and the wood block has extra slots so you can add to your collection of Shun knives over time. This is an investment in good knives you probably won't ever have to replace.

Nice set. I added a filet and bread knife to complete the outfit. I have to say that these knives are super sharp. I primarily use the chef's knife for prep work, but the pairing knife was amazing with lemons. The block that comes with the set is really nice as well. In fact, my friends both commented on how nice the block was before noticing how pretty and sharp the knives where. It's hard to see in the photos, but the block is cut at a few angles. The top and bottom are not parallel as the top slants forward and to the left. These extra angles make the presentation of the knives very nice. The sheers are really the best I've ever seen included in a kit. These are usually an after-thought, but I really like the set they've included here.

These knives are fabulous! They are real nice.

I waned a good set of knives. You can get less expensive knives. I have some. But when these slide through a soft tomato with almost just the weight of the knife, you just feel good. I use them every day, multiple times, well worth the cost.

BEAUTIFUL knives and block. All was as pictured and described. Didn’t notice the top was angled to the side until we got it but that just makes it even more stylish. We absolutely love it! This was my husbands birthday present. Although a leftie he is still able to use with ease and stated they cut amazing! He emailed Shun and received no response. He called them and they advised no leftie knives and to reshape for lefties would be custom work which they don’t do. Lucky it works so well for him anyway.
