What's the wide of door will the garden latch suitable for?

A door about 1 3/8" to 2 6/19" wide will be suitable.

The inner pin is too long for my standard gate, can I get a shorter pin or is the only option to cut the pin myself? Or return the full product?

I cut mine or go to a home improvement stor for a longer rod.

I have a thicker door, so I plan to get a longer hex rod, but would like to get it ahead of time. What is the diameter across the flats?

I don't know the answer without removing the latch from the gate, but the hex rod that comes with it is quite long. I had to cut one down to fit a 1 1/2" stile.
