8BitDo Xbox Media Remote Short Ed.

I wanted a media controller to use with Xbox and kodi because the game pad is too bulky for media controls so I brought the 8bitdo as this is a brand I trust and the media controls work flawlessly and the remote is comfy in hand. The volume up and down works well with my tv and the other buttons including the Xbox button and it lights up so you can see to use the buttons at night time in the dark which is a feature I love. It takes zero setup so even a child could use it, just put batteries in (triple a) and it works straight away and it’s beautiful. Better than the more expensive controllers on the market. I got it to use with my Xbox series S.

I love that the controller powers on from it's standby via movement - it doesn't turn off manually - which is great. If that was the case it would suffer from the same problem as the controller, always needing to turn it on and off to control apps and film players.The LED lights seem a bit bright though and may eat batteries up quicker, that's my only gripe. My first set of batteries were used up fairly quick but I will try better batteries next time and hopefully see an improvement.There's no need to pair this up either with the Xbox, works straight out of the box which is awesome.- Chris

I have been struggling with Xbox X remote for many months (black one on the picture), it is the worst remote anyone could ever build. You have to point it directly on your Xbox or good luck, navigation is a nightmare, even return button is nicely hidden between volume/chanel up/down so you cannot find it, no backlight ... if you have one you know what I mean if you don't do not buy it.Just received "white" remote by 8BitDo - it is very good remote it works and it works well, no struggling just simply works. The remote has everything where it suppose to have, has backlight, and even indication of week batteries. What else do you need? Good job 8BitDo. Strongly recommend.

The media could not be loaded.  Genuinely surprised with this remote and how weirdly awkward it is to use, basically if your not physically moving the remote around (which lights up the buttons) it doesn't work... It's really noticeable if your browsing using the remote and not pressing it whilst reading something and when you do then go to press a button it's a 50/50 whether it'll work or if you have to give the remote a little shake first.It is also a crapshoot with the Volume as to whether it will go up/down on a press at all, by 1 increment (as you'd expect) or a random number of increments between 2 and 10.8bitdo have successfully created a remote that doesn't seem to work as you'd expect a remote too. It is massively disappointing as I love their controllers and the remote itself looks decent and feels great in hand but I could only recommend this to someone I didn't like, knowing it'll bug them every time they 'try' to use it...

Really nice remote, well built with a satisfying click to the buttons.Lights up when you pick it up which is a nice touch but it flies through batteries at an incredible rate, get yourself a couple sets of rechargeables because otherwise you'll be forever buying batteries every few weeks

Update: the issue I wrote about below has been fixed with Xbox updates to the console. 👍This remote is pretty great.It has all the features you want, it's light, it lights up, it has buttons that work.It's very satisfying to hold too, feels nice in your hand.However, I use a login-code for my account which brings up the telephone-style software keyboard (0-9 etc.) and the on-screen prompts don't match the entries on the remote. For example, pressing the play button for 0 simply doesn't work and can result in a user locking themselves out of their account.Please fix this 8bitdo!Other than this issue, I love this remote. <3

Very neat and simple remote, does exactly what I needed. No setup required at all, works straight out of the box. Turns on the xbox and even controlls the TV volume which is awesome. Would reccomend anyday!

Initially impressed and found the remote to be very functional. The benefits of a short remote but including the ABXY buttons are numerous.2 weeks in and I notice sometimes when pressing a button the lights flicker and the Xbox doesn’t respond to the command.After a few attempts it seems to settle down again and start working properly.If this keeps up; it’s going for a return and I’ll go back to my old, still working many years later, official Microsoft remote.

Tuve el control multimedia original de Xbox One y, definitivamente, este de 8Bitdo me parece bastante más cómodo. Lo utilizo con Xbox Series X y funciona perfectamente bien, y cabe aclarar que funciona sin problemas a pesar de que la página de soporte de Xbox dice que el control multimedia de Xbox One no es compatible con S|X, pero sí lo es, el sensor infrarrojo de las S|X se encuentra en el botón de sincronización que tienen en el frente. Este es el tercer control que tengo de la marca 8Bitdo y no me queda duda de la calidad que acostumbran.

Read mixed reviews on all the top Xbox media remotes and took a chance on this one. Don't regret it. For me, the button layout and size are perfect. Back-lit buttons are not too bright and easy to see. However it is very sensitive and the slightest movement turns them on (which might explain why it went through the first set of batteries that it came with so fast? Or they're just cheap batteries..). When the batteries start to drain the Back-lighting didn't seem to come on until a button was pressed. I appreciate that Indicator. Set up was SUPER EASY! I just followed the onscreen prompts and within a couple mins it was set.My Xbox oneX is HDMI'd to my fancy pants Yamaha AV receiver then to my older (2016) Samsung TV. After set up, turning on Xbox with this remote instantly turns on the receiver and TV at the same time and controls the volume aswell as all the Xbox menu's/functions.All buttons work perfectly for the streaming apps I use. (Netflix,Hulu,Prime, Disney+) On occasion I have had to press a button twice, but not often (which doesn't bother me when compared to convenience).As for the whole IR/RF deal,.. of course RF would always be preferred! But I've had no issues at all with having to aim exactly at the Xbox. I sit about 12'-13' away and point it in the generally direction. However, out of curiosity I pointed the remote in every direction possible (up,down,left,right, and behind) and to my surprise it still controlled my Xbox and AV receiver! It does appear to have two IR diodes (instead of a single one like most other remotes), so maybe that helps..?? It does still need some sort of "line-of-sight" as it does not work from under a blanket. So I'm not sure as to the reason why others are seeming to have a problem with it??I've had it about a month now and have used it every day with no issues.Only cons I have are that the Xbox power/menu button at the top is not back-lit as it's just a rounded sticker. (I think that's weird) but the texture/shape/location of it makes it easy to find/use. All other buttons are smooth and the directional ones have tiny dots that really can't be felt. The back-lighting only stays on for about 4 seconds (wish it was longer). And like previously stated, it will most likely go through batteries fast. Different color options would be cool.All in all, I'm personally super happy with it as it does exactly what I wanted it for. Using a regular controller was a pain in the ass for streaming.

Acquistato per la Xbox S, funziona bene, unica cosa credo che i tasti volume non funzionino con tutte le tv l, anche abilitando i controlli da HDMI. La mia tv è un poco datata. Non sorprendetevi se alcune funzioni non vanno. Dipende dalla Tv

It just works with Xbox Series X without requiring any setup. One minor downside is that it's IR, so requires line of sight to the console to work, but then that's exactly what enables it to work out of the box without setup. Just FYI, it does not work with Xbox 360 though. Will likely work with Xbox One, but haven't verified that personally.
