Anxiety is a powerful force. It makes us question ourselves and our decisions, causes us to worry about the future, and fills our days with dread and emotional turbulence. Based in acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) an cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), this book is designed to help you break the cycle of worry.Worry convinces us there's danger, and then tricks us into getting into fight, flight, or freeze mode-even when there is no danger. The techniques in this book, rather than encouraging you to avoid or try to resist anxiety, shows you how to see the trick that underlies your anxious thoughts, and how avoidance can backfire and make anxiety worse. If you're ready to start observing your anxious feelings with distance and clarity-rather than getting tricked once again- this book will show you how. Review: Good - Good Review: The most amazing book - I wish I had read it sooner, when I first fell prey to panic attacks, anxiety and worry. I came to know how anxiety functions from a lot of other books, and they helped. This book described literally my entire journey through anxiety. I followed the steps in this book, and though I do get occasional worrisome thoughts, but I am no longer anxious and scrambling myself to get to a psychiatrist and troubling him to give me reassurances.

The book that finally helped me
I've read a lot of books on anxiety in the 15 years I've been suffering from severe health anxiety. This is the first one where I felt like the author was actually in my head. It was such a relief to see the thoughts and fears I have being expressed by someone else. By far the best takeaway from this book is to stop keeping your anxious thoughts to yourself. I finally feel like I have a path to a calmer, less anxious life.

I wouldn't be without this book
Like a lot of people these days - I have anxiety issues from time to time, and I found this book to be an absolute godsend. I would absolutely and without reservation recommend this book for anybody that suffers from anxiety. It's easy to read and explains things in a light-hearted way. I've read it a couple times myself when hit with a bout of anxiety and I've also lent it to others who were in need of it's wisdom at times in their lives. I wouldn't be without a copy on my shelf.
